The University of Dubuque offers an excellent benefits package including tuition remission, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a retirement match.Hours: Monday - Friday, first shift with anticipation to move towards Tuesday - SaturdayPosition Summary:An experienced Aircraft Mechanic holding a valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license, responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of general aviation aircraft, specifically Cessna Skyhawks and Piper Seminoles. Ensures all work is performed in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer specifications, and UD standards. Duties include routine scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing engine and airframe repairs, and completing necessary documentation. Works closely with other maintenance personnel to ensure aircraft safety, airworthiness, and readiness for flight operations.Primary Responsibilities:Support and assist in the maintenance of UD aircraft and related equipmentProvide administrative and maintenance support to the Director of MaintenanceEnsure maintenance of all UD aircraft in accordance with applicable FAA, OSHA, and UD policiesAssist in reconciliation of aircraft maintenance logs and other maintenance aircraft related documentsAssist with resolving discrepancies or other maintenance related issues by coordinating with flight center staffAssist in training and onboarding of incoming work-study staffPerform other duties in support of the aviation department and the University's M issionSkills and Abilities:Prior fixed-wing or rotor-wing aircraft maintenance experience preferredPrior mechanical maintenance experienceAbility to bend, stoop, and kneelMust be able to lift at least 40lbsMust be able to stand on your feet for long periods of timeEffective communication skills; both orally and writingExceptional skills using Microsoft OfficeAbility to relate to a culturally diverse university community and interact effectively with other as well as work collaboratively with other departmentsQualifications:Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree PreferredA&P certificate requiredValid US driver's licenseFlexibility with schedule when the need arises (potential on-call, nights, and weekends)Willingness to work overtime if neededTo apply with a growing faith-based University for the Aviation Maintenance Technician position, please submit a UD Employment Application (https://www.dbq.edu/AboutUD/Employment/OnlineApplicationforEmployment/) with an attached cover letter, resume, and three professional references or email application materials to hr@dbq.edu .Affirmation Action/Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
