Associate Attorney

Messner Reeves LLP, a full-service, business law firm, with 10 offices nationwide, seeks an experienced General Liability Attorney to join our growing team in California.This role offers hands-on litigation experience handling a variety of general liability claims, including personal injury, premises liability, and property damage matters.This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to expand experience, develop litigation strategy, and work closely with clients and carriers in a collaborative law firm environment.Key ResponsibilitiesManage a caseload of general liability matters from inception through resolution.Handle insurance defense litigation, including personal injury and premises liability claims.Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and legal memoranda.Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies.Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and expert witnesses.Represent clients at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.Evaluate liability exposure, damages, and settlement opportunities.Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, and opposing counsel.Maintain accurate timekeeping and billing guidelines.Required QualificationsJuris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.Active license to practice law in California and in good standing.3+ years of experience in civil litigation, general liability, or insurance defense.Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.Ability to independently manage deadlines and multiple litigation matters.Preferred QualificationsDeposition and courtroom experience.Trial preparation or trial experience.Experience working with insurance carriers and claims professionals.Familiarity with case management systems and e-discovery platforms.If you thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and can handle multiple competing priorities, this position is for you.We offer a great working environment, competitive compensation, and full benefits.
