Manufacturing Process Engineer

SUMMARY:The senior manufacturing engineer develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. The senior manufacturing engineer is expected to leverage their experiences to mentor others, take the initiative to assist in plant decision making and execute tasks with minimal supervision or direction.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors when needed; soliciting observations from operators.Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors when needed.Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.Provides manufacturing engineering support for manufacturing processes and equipment.Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service when needed.Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies (Where applicable).Takes the initiative to mentor others on topics that the senior manufacturing engineer is considered an subject matter expert.QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university, or 6 to 8 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Computer skills required: Microsoft Office; Statistical Analysis Software (i.e. MiniTab / JMP)Skills:Ability to design and execute a DOETechnical Writing; including validations and technical reportsAbility to analyze data based on statistical methodsProblem-solving skillsCommunication internally & externallyLeadershipEquipment SpecificationsManufacturing Methods and ProceduresProduct DevelopmentPresenting Technical InformationAnalytical skillsRelevant technical knowledgeTeamwork
