This role is critical in supporting business growth by ensuring the reliable, cost-effective, and compliant sourcing of raw materials, components, finished goods, and assemblies.To be successful in this role, you must be comfortable working with minimal supervision, demonstrate strong leadership and strategic thinking, and possess excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. This position reports to the Director of Supply Chain and works closely with Engineering, Operations, Product Development, Finance, and Compliance teams.Primary ObjectiveAs Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing purchasing and sourcing strategies that align with business objectives, support manufacturing operations, and optimize total cost of ownership. You will oversee supplier relationships, lead strategic sourcing initiatives, and manage a multi-site purchasing team across the United States and Mexico.You will provide clear direction, effective delegation, and ongoing coaching to buyers and senior buyers, ensuring workload is balanced and aligned with priorities. A key part of this role is developing the capabilities of the purchasing team through performance management, mentoring, and skill development, building bench strength and supporting long-term organizational growth.You will play a key leadership role in supplier negotiations, RFIs/RFQs, supplier performance management, and cross-functional collaboration while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and oversee purchasing activities for raw materials, components, finished goods, and assemblies supporting manufacturing and distribution operationsManage and develop a team of buyers and senior buyers across multiple locations in the U.S. and MexicoDevelop and implement purchasing and sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives and cost targetsLead RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, and sourcing events for existing and new products or suppliersNegotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and long-term agreements with domestic and international suppliersEstablish and maintain strong supplier relationships and strategic partnershipsMonitor supplier performance using KPIs, scorecards, and regular business reviewsCollaborate with Engineering, Operations, Product Development, Finance, and Compliance to support manufacturing requirements and new product introductionsIdentify cost reduction initiatives through value engineering, alternative sourcing, and continuous improvement effortsEnsure supplier compliance with quality, delivery, sustainability, ethical sourcing, and regulatory requirementsManage supplier onboarding and qualification processesAnalyze market trends, commodity pricing, and global supply risks to proactively mitigate disruptionsSupport inventory optimization and working capital objectives in partnership with planning and operations teamsResolve escalated supplier issues related to quality, delivery, or performanceMaintain accurate purchasing documentation, contracts, and supplier recordsDrive standardization and process improvements across purchasing activitiesLeverage ERP systems and sourcing tools to improve visibility, reporting, and efficiencyPrepare and present purchasing metrics, savings reporting, and performance updates to leadershipSupport trade compliance and international sourcing considerationsPromote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the purchasing teamQualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities8+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, or strategic sourcing within a manufacturing environmentProven experience managing multi-site and cross-border purchasing teamsStrong background in global sourcing and supplier negotiationsExperience purchasing direct materials, components, and finished goods/assembliesProfessional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, or CPPM preferredFamiliarity with manufacturing processes, tooling, molds, and technical drawings and BOMsStrong analytical, negotiation, and project management skillsProficiency with ERP/MRP systems and sourcing toolsAbove-average proficiency in Microsoft ExcelKnowledge of trade compliance, supplier risk management, and international sourcingExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesAbility to communicate in Spanish is a plus, though not a requirement for the role.Education and CertificationBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related fieldAbout ASSA ABLOY FenestrationASSA ABLOY Fenestration is the result of the integration of two heritage brands—Caldwell (established 1888 in Rochester, NY) and Interlock (founded in New Zealand in 1961)—under the global ASSA ABLOY umbrella.
