Academic Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD
On-site position at Alpha School campuses located in New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; or Santa Barbara, CAAnnual salary of $150,000, distributed weekly. Health benefits begin on day one.Relocation assistance providedYou understand that refusing to lower expectations is the most compassionate act you can perform for a student. Your background includes competition, creation, or accomplishment at levels most people encounter only in articles: elite-level athletics, graduation with honors from a top-tier institution, employment at a highly selective organization, or a business you launched independently. Consider channeling that rigor into a classroom of K-12 learners who have never encountered someone with credentials like yours, prepared to elevate them to benchmarks they never imagined within reach. If maintaining elite standards strikes you as too demanding, this role is not for you.Alpha leverages AI-driven 1-on-1 instruction that allows students to complete core academic work in roughly two hours daily. The remaining time is dedicated to developing life skills, pursuing individual interests, and fostering genuine development. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They require a credible mentor whose personal track record defines the standard: someone capable of assessing group dynamics, establishing expectations, and guiding learners through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty.Your role is not instructional. It centers on coaching, challenging, and enforcing the same exacting standards you have applied to your own path. Forty percent of your time involves direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching that identifies obstacles and establishes ambitious objectives. Another forty percent is spent facilitating structured life-skills sessions designed for competency, not engagement. The final twenty percent establishes the daily foundation: focused morning sessions that cultivate a culture where mediocrity is unacceptable. The trajectory emphasizes depth over advancement. You begin by mastering Alpha's approach and earning student trust. Within several months, you become the individual students trust to push them beyond self-imposed limits. The return is not upward mobility. It is witnessing a student who avoided eye contact in September deliver a confident presentation to a room of adults in May.If you seek a meaningful application for your elite credentials beyond personal achievement, submit your application now. What You Will Be DoingConducting 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions leveraging Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify obstacles, establish ambitious targets, and ensure accountability for executionFacilitating structured life-skills sessions designed for competency using authentic narratives from your elite background, followed by competency assessment through Alpha's Test2Pass frameworkEstablishing the performance culture each morning via focused kickoff sessions that reinforce high-expectation standards campus-wideMonitoring student advancement in real time and modifying coaching approaches based on evidence, not intuitionDeveloping trusted mentor relationships with students and families through consistent high standards and documented motivational frameworksWhat You Won’t Be DoingCreating lesson plans, developing curriculum, or evaluating assignments (Alpha's instructional model manages teaching; you manage drive)Presenting to a full classroom of 30 students (your work involves intensive coaching in small settings, not large-group instruction)Supervising other personnel or pursuing an administrative career path (this position focuses on direct student outcomes, not organizational advancement)Attending faculty meetings or managing school bureaucracy (your schedule remains concentrated on students)Reducing standards to achieve targets (if a student reaches 99%, your responsibility is determining what prevented 100%)Academic Coach Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver exceptional student motivation, development, and life-skill competency at Alpha's most rigorous campuses.Basic RequirementsBachelor's degreeAt least one demonstration of exceptional achievement within a highly selective, globally recognized field (examples: national or international competition medals, top-tier university with distinction, highly selective firm or fellowship, elite performing arts institution, or founding and scaling a successful venture)Minimum of 3 years of experience in student coaching, youth mentoring, athletic coaching, or leadership positions where you demonstrably elevated others' performanceWilling to work on-site at an Alpha campus in New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; or Santa Barbara, CA (relocation assistance provided)Legal authorization to work in the United StatesNice-to-have RequirementsBackground in elite competitive athletics (varsity Division I, national team, or professional level) with coaching or mentoring experience for younger athletesExperience in high-accountability settings such as management consulting, investment banking, or military leadershipDemonstrated youth development through mentoring in non-academic contexts (community organizations, after-school programs, sports camps)Ease presenting to and cultivating trust with high-expectation families investing in premium private school tuitionAbout AlphaWant to join a learning rebellion that’s transforming the traditional classroom?
