Job DescriptionNetwork Test Engineer (Callbox / Wireless Lab Specialist)Level: L1 (Entry-Level / Early Career)Work Location: Mountain View, CA (On-site Lab)Key ResponsibilitiesCallbox Operation & Test Bed Bring-UpConfigure, calibrate, and operate industry-standard cellular callboxes (e.g., Anritsu MT8821C / MT8000A, Amarisoft Callbox Classic / Ultimate, Keysight) for RF simulationand device verification.Set up 4G LTE, 5G NR Standalone (SA), and Non-Standalone (NSA) simulated network cells with varying carrier bandwidths, MIMO configurations, and frequency bands.Maintain lab RF cabling, attenuator matrices, splitters, and RF shielding enclosures to ensure interference-free test execution.Test Execution & Network ValidationExecute comprehensive test suites for cellular device bring-up, carrier feature acceptance, and multi-SIM behavior.Validate core features including:Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) and seamless data switching.IMS Services: VoLTE, VoNR, Wi-Fi Calling (VoWiFi), and SMS/MMS over IP.Network attach/detach, inter-RAT handovers, cell reselection, and mobility transitions.5G Standalone (SA) registration, PDU session establishment, and network slicing behaviors.Protocol Log Capture & TriagingCollect detailed protocol and system logs using debugging tools such as ADB, QXDM, Wireshark, Shannon Logger, and native Android logging tools.Perform first-level log analysis across 3GPP protocol layers (Layer 1 / PHY, Layer 2 / MAC / RLC / PDCP, and Layer 3 / RRC & NAS).Identify protocol signaling failures, unexpected call drops, IMS registration errors, or radio link failures (RLF), and submit clear, actionable bug reports with reproducible steps and log snippets to engineering teams.Automation & Lab MaintenanceRun and monitor automated regression test benches using automated test harnesses and device farms.Utilize basic scripting (Python / Bash) to automate routine testing workflows, parse log metrics, or execute repetitive callbox commands via SCPI/API.Keep callbox firmware, software packages, and SIM/eSIM profiles up to date.
