Legal Conflicts Research Specialist

Founded in 1920, Akerman is recognized as one of the country's premier law firms, with more than 700 lawyers in 25 offices throughout the United States.Akerman is seeking a full-time Conflicts Research Specialist. This position performs basic to complex research requests for incoming new clients utilizing systems provided by the customer. Must be able to memorize and apply guidelines for searching based on the nature of the request. Must be able to work with limited supervision and prioritize work to complete all requests in a timely manner.Job Duties And Responsibilities:Conduct comprehensive research using Industry knowledge for corporate terms and prepare reports on companies and individuals based on research performedWork with partners and other attorneys at the firm to prepare requested information and reportsMaintain database search enginesPotentially assist in the training of other employeesMaintain professional communication with firm administration, attorneys, and legal assistantsAssist in initial review of incoming new client and/or new matter requests verifying data and researching corporate trees utilizing various software including but not limited to Bureau Van Dijk Orbis, Westlaw, LexisAdvance, Accurint, and TLOValidate incoming data and provide direction for Conflicts Team MembersInteract with firm employees to answer questions or update on status as neededAssist with quality control. Will be responsible for validating and/or approving new business intake information prior to sending to firm employeesPerforms other duties as assignedQualifications (Education, Experience, And Certifications):Strong communication skills, both oral and writtenStrong work ethic and ability to maintain strict confidentialityStrong organizational and time management skills, problem solving skills and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, perform under tight time deadlines and flexibly adjust to changing prioritiesProficient computers skills requiredAbility to self-manage and analyze information for client decisionHigh School diploma with 3 - 5 years of related work experience requiredBachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certification strongly preferredLaw firm experience a plus (Paralegal, Library and/or Legal Research experience a plus)Ability to type 55 WPMWe offer an excellent compensation and benefits package.
