Maintains standards of nursing care, under the supervision of registered nursing personnel, in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of the Nursing Department and regulatory agencies. Provides work direction to Certified Nursing Assistants.Essential Job FunctionsPerforms nursing care for assigned patients/residents per established department guidelines, policies and procedures.Handles admissions, discharges and transfers of assigned residents/patients.Shares responsibility for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans and nursing care.Performs documentation according to established standards and procedures.Prepares, administers, and concisely, accurately, and completely records medications in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications.Receives, transcribes and carries out physicians' orders.Oversees and assists with meal service.Oversees, assists and guides the work of CNAs in the daily activities.Provides coaching to CNA's and participates in the annual performance appraisal process.Assists in the orientation of new personnel when requested.Job RequirementsEducation:* High School Diploma or equivalent* Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursingExperience:* Experience in a long-term care/skilled nursing facility environment preferredLicenses/Certifications:Current LPN license by the Florida State Board of NursingCurrent American Heart Association BLS CertificationIV Certification preferredAbilities RequiredKnowledge of long term care / skilled nursing facility environmentComputer literacySelf-directing.
