For over 30 years, Thinking Maps has supported schools across the United States and internationally with a powerful visual language for learning that strengthens critical thinking, literacy, and student achievement.Our work helps educators build deeper understanding through visual tools that support how students process information, communicate ideas, and develop higher-order thinking skills.Thinking Maps partners with school districts, state agencies, and educators nationwide to provide professional development, curriculum resources, and digital learning tools that improve instructional clarity and student outcomes.Job SummaryThe Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for identifying, developing, and generating new business opportunities with K–12 schools and districts. This role focuses on lead generation, market research, and building relationships with prospective clients to drive strategic partnerships.The BDM will analyze market trends, develop outreach strategies, and engage key decision-makers to expand Thinking Maps’ presence. This role works closely with the sales and marketing teams to align efforts with organizational goals and ensure a consistent and effective approach to pipeline development. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, a proactive and self-directed approach, and the ability to build long-term professional relationships within the education sector.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify and generate new leads through research, outreach, and networking within K–12 schools and districts.Conduct market research to analyze trends, identify opportunities, and inform business development strategies.Build and maintain relationships with prospective clients, including district leaders, administrators, and educators.Develop and execute outreach strategies to promote Thinking Maps’ solutions and expand market presence.Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to align messaging, campaigns, and pipeline development efforts.Diligently track, document, and manage all outreach efforts, communications, and pipeline activity within CRM systems, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.Track and manage leads, activities, and pipeline progress within CRM systems.Communicate effectively with prospective clients through email, phone, virtual meetings, and presentations.Provide exceptional customer service throughout the early stages of the sales cycle to establish trust and credibility.Monitor and report on business development metrics, including lead generation and conversion activity. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Marketing, or a related field. Equivalent experience in business development, sales, or the education sector may substitute for specific degrees.Prior experience in business development, sales, lead generation, or market research, preferably within the education sector.Strong analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate data, identify trends, and draw insights to inform strategy.Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.Experience working with school districts or educational institutions is strongly preferred.Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a remote environment.Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of driving results.Preferred ExperienceExperience using CRM systems (e.g., Zoho CRM or similar platforms).Familiarity with K–12 purchasing cycles and district decision-making processes.Experience with educational products or curriculum development.Background in educational products, professional development, or curriculum solutions. Why Join Us?Thinking Maps offers competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, opportunities for career growth, and a fast-paced work environment.
