Associate Attorney

Phil Watson, P.C. is a small firm located on the Southside of Des Moines. We are seeking a full time associate. An ideal candidate will already be licensed and have relevant experience; recent graduates with practical experience such as legal clinic, clerkship, and mock trial experience will also be considered. Primary areas of practice likely to include probate, real estate, litigation, and family law. Firm currently has two experienced attorneys. Associate will be expected to assist current attorneys with existing case load but will also have an opportunity to build his or her own practice. Relaxed small firm atmosphere with open door mentorship. Firm is also open to a part-time, experienced, attorney if the individual is a good fit for the firm. Pay will be based on experience and credentials. The starting amount listed in the advertisement is for full time work. Paid holidays include New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. Sick leave provided along with vacation that increases throughout tenure. Firm also offers IRA match and pays one-half of single coverage health insurance. Firm pays annual dues for Iowa State Bar Association and Polk County Bar Association; firm also pays all required licensure fees.
