Drafter IV (CAD/AutoCAD Drafter)

Performs drafting work, using a computer, requiring knowledge and skill in drafting methods, procedures, and techniques. Prepares drawings of structures, mechanical and electrical equipment, piping and duct systems and other similar equipment, systems, and assemblies. Uses recognized systems of symbols, legends, shadings, and lines having specific meanings in drawings. Drawings are used to communicate engineering ideas, designs, and information in support of engineering functions.Essential Job DutiesPrepares complete sets of unusual complex or original design drawings, which require a high degree of precision and include multiple views, detail drawings, and assembly drawings. Drawings include complex design features that require considerate drafting skill to visualize and portray. Performs unusually difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise.Uses standard mathematical formulas, on a regular basis, to compute weights, load capacities, dimensions, quantities of materials, etc.Determines the most appropriate views, detail drawings and supplemental information needed to complete assignments. Using sketches and verbal information supplied by engineers or planner/estimators.Selects required information from precedents, manufactures, catalogs and technical guides.Independently resolves most of the problems encountered. Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on knowledge of the design intent.
