Drafter IV (CAD/AutoCAD Drafter)
Performs drafting work, using a computer, requiring knowledge and skill in drafting methods, procedures, and techniques. Prepares drawings of structures, mechanical and electrical equipment, piping and duct systems and other similar equipment, systems, and assemblies. Uses recognized systems of symbols, legends, shadings, and lines having specific meanings in drawings. Drawings are used to communicate engineering ideas, designs, and information in support of engineering functions.Essential Job DutiesPrepares complete sets of unusual complex or original design drawings, which require a high degree of precision and include multiple views, detail drawings, and assembly drawings. Drawings include complex design features that require considerate drafting skill to visualize and portray. Performs unusually difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise.Uses standard mathematical formulas, on a regular basis, to compute weights, load capacities, dimensions, quantities of materials, etc.Determines the most appropriate views, detail drawings and supplemental information needed to complete assignments. Using sketches and verbal information supplied by engineers or planner/estimators.Selects required information from precedents, manufactures, catalogs and technical guides.Independently resolves most of the problems encountered. Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on knowledge of the design intent. Although working primarily as a drafter, may occasionally interpret general designs prepared by others to complete minor details.Supervision may suggest methods of approach or provide advice on unusually difficult problems.Assures that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation, and operation are resolved by the drawing produced.Provides advice and guidance to lower-level drafters or serves as coordinator and planner for large and complex drafting projects.Locate and review existing drawings to help field craft identify panels, circuits, piping, plumbing, and conduit routing for ongoing projects.Other Essential Job FunctionsMaintain regular and punctual attendance.Work cooperatively with others.Interact with employees and others in the workplace in an appropriate manner.Use a computer for task such as communicating by email and preparing reports and work schedules using MS Office software.Review, analyze, and manage all Work Control activities using MicroStation, Maintenance Connection (Maximo), and other systems.Plan Prioritize, monitor, and manage Work Selection activities.Select: Complete / Oversee the completion of assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.Comply with all Company policies and procedures.Other Important Job duties and responsibilitiesCommunicate effectively with employees, leadership, and government officials dailyPrioritize, plan, and communicate customer needs to ensure APTIM delivers the highest quality service in a timely mannerEffective leadership skills with exceptional time management and organizational skills.Minimum years of experience acceptable for the role:6-10 years.Typical years of experience for full proficiency in role: 3-5 yearsEducation RequirementsMinimum degree required bachelor's Degree, QBERequired/Preferred Degree Focus Military Experience Preferred.Valid State Driver's LicenseMeet requirements for: pre-employment physical, drug screening, background check, and MVR check (MVR points are subject to company policy)Must be able to obtain Common Access Card (CAC)Ability to work shifts of at least 8 hours, and occasionally longer, 5 days perAbility to stand for prolongedAbility to sit for prolonged periodsAbility to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50Ability to work in cold/hot/dusty/loudAbility to work in officeAbility to receive and understand direction from supervision andABOUT APTIMAPTIM is committed to accelerating the transition toward a clean and efficient energy economy, building a sustainable future for our communities and natural world, and creating a more inclusive and equitable environment that celebrates the diversity of our communities.
