DC Post-Production Mixer/Editor
DescriptionCity Cast DC is seeking a post‐production staffer to support our City Cast DC team as it produces a daily podcast, and takes care of the post‐production work for a daily newsletter and other bi‐weekly newsletters. The role is remote but needs to be based in D.C.We are looking for a producer with extensive audio skills, who is detail‐oriented, already experienced with or willing to learn newsletter building, and an eager collaborator. The ideal candidate has a sharp ear (and eye) for quality and thrives in deadline‐driven environments.Deadline to apply: March 17, 2026Key ResponsibilitiesAssemble and finalize podcast episodes in Adobe Audition, including adjusting effects, EQ'ing, leveling track grains, addressing reverb, sibilance, and background noise as needed, and running episodes through Match LoudnessApply and manage AUD effects in Audition with precision and consistencyProvide feedback and flag issues such as choppiness, overprocessing, or underprocessing in mixesUse tools like Izotope (preferred) to enhance audio quality when necessaryMix ads using Audition and Izotope effects as neededWork within our CMS and ESP to build and schedule newsletters, ensuring that the copy (written and edited by others) and photos are presented clearly for the readerWork periodically with the managing editor, senior executive producer, and reporters on ideas to better refine the presentation of the newsletterPotentially use Descript for editing video episodes down the line.Potentially create thumbnails and upload/schedule video episodes to YouTube.RequirementsDemonstrated expertise in Adobe Audition, particularly with AUD effects, EQ'ing, and finalizing episodes. Experience with Izotope preferredStrong ear for audio quality and ability to identify and resolve subtle issues in a mixComfortable collaborating with multiple people comfortable with tight deadlinesKeen attention to detailExperience with content management systems preferredReliable, communicative, and able to meet tight deadlinesBenefitsThis role will report to the Senior Executive Producer of City Cast DC. This position is full‐time, with excellent benefits. The salary is $72,000 - 79,000 yearly, based on experience. You must be local, though work will be primarily remote.
