Financial Controller Location: Twin Cities, MN (Hybrid - In-Office 1-2 Days/Week) | Compensation: $70,000 - $85,000 | Full-Time Job Description: About DOPE Marketing DOPE Marketing is a direct mail automation platform serving thousands of home service businesses across the United States. Our platform combines data-driven targeting, automated campaign management, and a full-service print and mail operation-all accessible through software that our clients use every day. The Role We're hiring a Financial Controller to manage the day-to-day financial operations of a $28M+ business. This is an execution role, not a CFO seat, not a strategic finance position, and not a bookkeeping-only job. It's the critical middle ground where the real work gets done, and it's an incredible opportunity for someone early in their finance career who wants to grow into a larger role as the company scales. You'll manage accounts payable and receivable, process payments, maintain financial records, and produce the reporting and light analysis that helps leadership make smart, fast decisions. You'll work alongside our internal financial advisory team and bookkeeping partners who handle strategic modeling and high-level planning. Your job is to make sure the machine runs, bills get paid on time, numbers are accurate, reports are clean, and nothing falls through the cracks. This role reports directly to the leadership team, who will provide clear direction and priorities. You'll have direct visibility into the financial health of a growing business, and as you prove yourself, there's a real path to take on more responsibility over time. We're not looking for someone who's done this for 15 years, we're looking for someone who's done it well for a couple of years and is ready for the next step. What You Will OwnAccounts payable and accounts receivable-managing all vendor payments, client billing, and collectionsWeekly and monthly financial reporting-pulling accurate numbers for leadership reviewBank and credit card reconciliation across multiple accountsLight financial analysis-identifying trends, flagging anomalies, and providing actionable insightsExpense tracking and budget monitoring-ensuring spending stays within approved guidelinesCoordination with our external bookkeeping team and financial advisors on month-end closeMaintaining clean, organized financial records in our accounting systemsSupporting debt management tracking and cash flow monitoring What We're Looking For1-3 years of experience in a financial operations, accounting, or finance support roleHands-on experience with AP/AR processes in a real business environment-not just classroom knowledgeProficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks) and strong Excel/Google Sheets skillsAbility to produce clear financial reports without being asked, you see what needs to be done and do itStrong attention to detail, you catch errors before they become problemsClear communication skills, you can explain financial information to non-finance people simply and directlyExperience working with or alongside external accountants, bookkeepers, or financial advisors is a plusA hunger to learn, grow, and take on more as you prove yourself in the role Why This Role Is a Great OpportunityYou'll be the person who owns financial operations for a $28M+ company, not buried on a team of 10 doing one narrow taskDirect visibility to leadership and the strategic decisions driving the businessA clear growth path, prove yourself here, and there's room to grow into a Finance Manager or higher as the company scalesYou'll learn how a fast-growing company actually operates financially, working alongside experienced advisors and a hands-on leadership teamReal ownership from day one in a company that rewards people who step up This Role Is Probably NOT For You If:You're looking for a strategic finance or CFO-track position.
