Typical duties include, but are not limited to: provide leadership and direction to a professional staff that advises and directs District OLS in the delivery of survey products to stakeholders; provides leadership and coordinates all land surveying and right of way engineering activities between the Districts, Divisions and offices; plans, procures, delivers and trains statewide staff in the rollout of new surveying technology and equipment; develops Statewide policies affecting the delivery of OLS products; represents Caltrans at external events including professional forums and recruitment of land surveyors; serves as the chair of the Statewide Land Surveys Management board.You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement .Special RequirementsPursuant to California Code of Regulations549.90, this position will be filled via the California Department of Transportation Managerial Selection Program (MSP) process. Applicants must have a permanent civil service appointment with the Department of Transportation and meet the minimum qualifications by the final filing date to participate in the examination.Minimum Qualifications:Possession of a valid California Land Surveyors' License. (A Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors prior to January 1, 1982 satisfies this requirement.) andEither ITwo years of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Senior Land Surveyor or Senior Transportation Surveyor (Caltrans).Or IIBroad and extensive (more than five years) land surveying experience, three years of which includes supervising a major program element of a large surveying operation equivalent in responsibility to the Senior Land Surveyor or Senior Transportation Surveyor (Caltrans) level in the California state service.
