After School Lead Teacher

As an Afterschool Lead Teacher at My Summit Adventures, you are responsible for implementing and supervising developmentally appropriate learning activities, alongside observing and assessing children’s development. Lead Teachers will implement My Summit Adventures curriculum in their classrooms and use that to plan daily & weekly activities to further grow their students' knowledge and development! Duties and Responsibilities: Design, establish, and maintain a classroom environment that effectively facilitates intellectual, physical, and social/ emotional development. Ensure program staff are meeting expectations and following MSA policies and procedures. Write and create weekly lesson plans and monthly calendars that must be submitted to Campus Lead. Record daily attendance and submit daily late pickups. Communicate events through verbal and nonverbal methods such as bulletin boards, flyers, and in person interaction. Maintain classroom policies, procedures, and expectations set forth by MSA administration. Manage classroom behavior; counsel students when academic, social, or adjustment concerns arise. Report behavior problems to Campus Lead. Documenting and reporting student progress. Communicating with parents & families about any kind of progress or concerns about student. Support students learning and creativity. Attend Monthly Team Meetings Complete Annual Safe Schools Trainings. Participate in Parent and Community Engagement Events Lead Teachers will maintain a clean, organized, inviting, playful room. Teachers will maintain appropriate learning resources in the classroom as communicated by the executive director. Implement and Follow a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support System (PBIS) Essential Behaviors: Patience and Understanding: MSA students are at an age where they are exploring and learning about the world around them. Teachers should be patient and understanding, allowing children to learn at their own pace and providing support when needed. Positive Reinforcement: Recognize and acknowledge children's efforts and accomplishments with praise and positive reinforcement. Encouragement and rewards can motivate children to continue learning and engage in positive behaviors. Effective Communication: Communicate clearly and effectively with both children and parents. Use age-appropriate language and actively listen to children's questions, concerns, and ideas. Communicate with parents about their child's progress and any important information or updates. Adaptability and Flexibility: Every child is unique, with different learning styles and needs. MSA teachers should be adaptable and flexible, tailoring their teaching methods and approaches to meet individual children's needs. Be open to new ideas and approaches to enhance the learning experience. Creativity and Resourcefulness: Foster creativity and imagination by providing a variety of stimulating and hands-on activities. Use different materials and resources to create engaging learning experiences. Encourage children to think critically and problem-solve through open-ended activities. Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a structured and organized classroom environment. Set clear rules and expectations, and consistently enforce them. Use positive discipline techniques to address behavior issues and promote a safe and respectful atmosphere. Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other teachers, administrators, and support staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Share ideas, resources, and best practices to enhance the overall Afterschool experience. Empathy and Emotional Support: Understand and respond to children's emotions and feelings. Provide a nurturing and caring atmosphere where children feel safe and supported. Help children develop social and emotional skills, such as empathy, self-regulation, and conflict resolution. Continuous Learning and Professional Development: Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in early childhood education and elementary education. Participate in professional development opportunities and seek ways to improve teaching techniques and strategies. Embrace lifelong learning and be open to new ideas and approaches. Love for Children and Teaching: Above all, an MSA teacher should genuinely love working with young children/school age children and have a passion for teaching. Show enthusiasm, warmth, and dedication to creating a positive learning environment for every child. Qualifications: High school Diploma or equivalent Previous experience working with young children. Need to be capable of lifting at least 25 pounds. Patience, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the students and the classroom environment. Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods and child development principles. A genuine passion for working with children. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to be able to effectively interact with students, parents, and other team members.
