Cloud Engineer (Azure)
As an Azure Cloud Engineer at AccumTech, you help design, deploy, manage, and support cloud solutions built on Microsoft Azure. You will work in a collaborative atmosphere to architect, design, and implement AccumTech's Azure cloud strategy. In this role, you will incorporate governance, security, and operational best practices. You will assist in designing scalable solutions, guide cloud strategy, establish standards, and ensure the reliability and performance of Azure-based workloads.A key part of this role is knowledge sharing, documentation, and upskilling others on the team. You will share findings, document best practices, build internal knowledge resources, and help elevate the cloud competency of the broader team.The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Azure services, Azure networking, identity, security frameworks, and enterprise cloud operations.Primary ResponsibilitiesAssist in the development and execution of Azure cloud strategy, architecture, and implementation plansHelp build and maintain Azure resources, services, and environmentsEstablish performance monitoring, capacity planning, and operational health assessmentsEstablish protocol for incident analysis and remediation using Azure-native monitoring and diagnostic toolsAssist with design and maintenance using Azure-native backup, recovery, and DR/BCP configurationsTroubleshoot Azure services, identity (AD/Entra), networking, and security issuesAssist in the design and implementation of governance models, including RBAC, least privilege, Azure Policies, and conditional accessAnalyze cloud events using Azure Monitor, Sentinel, and Log AnalyticsProduce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and standard operating proceduresCollaborate with development teams to support deployments, integrations, and best practicesAssist with escalated Azure and identity-related issuesDefine baseline performance standards for cloud workloadsKnowledge sharing with department staff on Azure best practices, findings, new capabilities, and operational insightsTechnical Skill Requirements Understanding of Azure services such as VMSS, App Services, Storage, Functions, Key Vault, SQL, and core networkingFamiliarity with Azure networking: VNets, NSGs/ASGs, Private Endpoints, WAF, load balancingUnderstanding of cloud security principles including RBAC, JIT, and conditional accessExperience designing Azure-native backup, restore, replication, and DR strategiesFamiliarity with Azure Monitor, Sentinel, Log Analytics, and cross-service event correlationExperience with Active Directory, Entra ID, conditional access, and hybrid identityConceptually design cloud-native architectures with scalability, resilience, and redundancyComfortable working within compliance, security frameworks, and cloud best practicesSoft Skills Ability to work in a team atmosphere to understand complex Azure conceptsStrong written communication and documentation skillsForward-thinking mindset with the ability to anticipate issues and drive proactive solutionsComfortable asking clarifying questions and driving architectural discussionsSkilled in cross-functional collaborationEnjoys knowledge sharing, training, mentoring, and helping others grow technicallyAble to translate cloud designs into clear concepts and actionable guidance for other teamsAdditional Qualifications: Azure architecture certifications completed or in-progressRelevant Microsoft or cloud security certificationsExperience with automation or IaC (Bicep, ARM, Terraform, GitHub Actions)Containerization experience (AKS, Kubernetes, etc)The salary range for this position is $90,000-$110,000 annually.ABOUT ACCUMTECHAccumTech is a small, but growing, software service company that has annually been voted one of Crain's Detroit Business Coolest Places to Work by our employees since 2019.
