Some classes begin at 10 am, others start at 1pm and others begin at 6pmNumber of Openings: 1Job Description:SUMMARYTeaches basic skills in language, writing, reading, mathematics, study skills, and test taking strategy in accordance with ASPIRE benchmarks for mastery of subjects. Provides leadership, supervision, and control of classroom activities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSLeads training and implementation of the ASPIRE Ohio Options for Adults CurriculumUses the ASPIRE Assessment Policy as a guideline for monitoring student performance (initial and progress assessments, andmeasurable skill gains)Uses the ASPIRE Data System to document attendance and maintain student recordsCreates and maintains lesson plans for each classCreates and maintains an individualized learning plan for each studentsMonitors attendance, maintain records, scores, and evaluates educational performance of participantsWhen appropriate, identifies and refers participants for supportive services to enhance student successParticipates in training sessions and/or attend regional/state conferences for professional development when neededActs as the Ohio Options for Adults, ASPIRE program representative at Cuyahoga Community College and community eventsMentors and supports the participants of the ASPIRE programInstructs via distance learning methods when neededPerforms other duties as neededREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAININGBachelor's DegreeMinimum of 3-5 years' experience in teaching or classroom facilitationExperience working with adult learnersExperience with curriculum development and classroom managementKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIESExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsCustomer service focus, with strong problem solving and organizational skillsDemonstrated ability to interact with individuals from diverse and multi-ethnic backgroundsSensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of the communityCOMPETENCIESCRITICAL COMPETENCIESService FocusCollaborationQuality of WorkVERY IMPORTANT COMPETENCIESCommunicationsAdaptabilityIMPORTANT COMPETENCIESTime UtilizationContinuous ImprovementPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAININGMaster's degreeExperience working with adult literacy educationPHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS(The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
