This position coordinates all special education services in designated school buildings, provides support to teachers and staff, and simultaneously fulfills the responsibilities of the primary special education Teacher of Record for assigned students with disabilities. The Coordinator/TOR ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, including Article 7 of the Indiana Administrative Code, and acts as a key liaison between the school, parents, and other service providers.Minimum Qualifications and Credential RequirementsValid Indiana special education teaching license, specific to the area of disability for assigned students, or appropriate training where licensure is unavailable (511 IAC 7-36-3(c)).Minimum of 5 years special education teaching experience.Good organizational, communication, and technology skills.Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a related field.Knowledge of IEP development, data collection, progress monitoring, and special education law.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Pass criminal history check.The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substances in the workplace throughout his/her employment by ECS.Essential FunctionsThe employee in the performance of assigned duties shall:Coordinate special education services in designated building/school districts.Provide direct support to all special education teachers in designated buildings.Assist building level personnel with special education needs, procedures, and legal mandates.Provide curriculum support to teachers, utilizing state standards.Network with school psychologist and building level personnel regarding initial referrals and evaluations.Provide support to the RTI teams within the buildings.Case manage individual students requiring program adjustments or more restrictive placements.Facilitate case conferences, as needed. May act as public agency representative if building principal designates.Monitor the progress and attend case conferences for students from assigned school district which are enrolled in programs or facilities outside of Eminence Community Schools.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and monitor IEPs for assigned students in collaboration with the Case Conference CommitteeProvide direct or indirect special education services to students as specified in their IEPs.Regularly monitor and report on student progress toward IEP goals, providing periodic updates to parents.Ensure the IEP is accessible to all relevant staff, including teachers, related service providers, and other personnel responsible for its implementation.Inform staff of their specific responsibilities related to implementing the IEP and ensure supplementary aids, services, and modifications are provided.Serve as a consultant and resource to other personnel providing services to the student.Ensure accommodations for statewide or district assessments are implemented per the IEP.Participate in reevaluations and inform the CCC of any IEP modifications.Maintain confidentiality of student records and adhere to all procedural safeguards.Assist in the creation of FBAs, BIPs, and model appropriate interventions as necessary.Provide training and support as necessary on behavioral management, the academic referral process, and/or the learning, social emotional, and behavioral needs of referred students as well as those involved in the RTI process.Maintain compliance with the requirements of Article 7, IDEA and other applicable regulations.Participate in regularly scheduled meetings within Eminence Community Schools.Participate in professional organizations and training programs in order to stay current with trends, issues, legislation, research, litigation, materials, and information pertaining to special education and evaluations.Assist in organization and presentation of in-services for teachers, teaching assistants, parents, administrators, and other staff.Develop and maintain knowledge base regarding autism and current research, methodologies, and practices.Develop and maintain knowledge base regarding assistive technology and current research, materials, and application in the classroom.Collaboration with SchoolsParticipate, assist, monitor, and/or collaborate on response to intervention plans. Provide pre-referral assistance, techniques, materials, and activities to school personnel, as needed.Participate in the development, implementation, and follow-up of intervention plans for special education students. Provide assistance, techniques, materials, and activities to school personnel, as needed.Serve as a consultant to school personnel on federal and state regulations/mandates.Promote a positive working relationship between the parents, schools, and Eminence Community Schools special education department.General DutiesFollow Eminence Community Schools procedures when completing paperwork and forms.Obtain current information as needed. Maintain confidentiality of student records.Attend in-services to keep abreast of current trends and practices in special education.Additional Coordinator Responsibilities for EminenceAssign new SPED teachers to Special Programs.Request transfer of SPED records through SP for all new students.Enter off SPED information in Infinite Campus and Special Programs.Make sure Everway (Adaptive Math and English) is set up and the appropriate students assigned.Verify data for SE (Dec/Apr), TR (June), and EV (June) reports.Serve as PAR for all virtual SPED conferences (move-in and annual).Health, vision, and dental insurance (district pays 85% single / 65% family)Access to no-cost clinics through insurance trust$70,000 life insurance13 leave days annually (limited transfer from prior districts)5 bereavement daysDistrict-paid Indiana State Teachers Retirement Fund contribution403(b) match up to 3% of salaryCoaching and extracurricular opportunities available
