Project & Alliance Manager/Sr. Manager
Orum Therapeutics is seeking a self-driven project and alliance manager (PM) to join as a key member of our research and development (R&D) team. As project manager, you will be working in close partnership with the project team leader (PL) and members, and will be responsible for planning and managing the project execution from target discovery to preclinical development. As alliance manager, you will collaborate with R&D, legal, and business development (BD) to operationalize the contract and manage external partnerships. Critical to succeeding in this position is an understanding of the drug development process, fluency in the sciences, and a strong ability to organize, prioritize and navigate tasks through challenges inherent in drug discovery/development and alliances.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management
Partner with the PL and work with the cross-functional team to drive the drug development process from discovery to preclinical development;
Map the project strategy, build and maintain the related integrated timeline. As needed, build development scenarios.
Manage the implementation of project strategy
Facilitate cross-functional communication, alignment, collaboration, and decision making
Identify risks and devise mitigation plans
Identify project interdependencies, Go/NoGo decision points/criteria, and critical path
Build and maintain the project budget and drive reforecasting activities
Create meeting agendas, draft meeting minutes, capture and follow up on action items
Coordinate and schedule regular and ad hoc team meetings
Manage/lead discrete projects, e.g. IND build
Alliance Management
Liaise with BD, R&D, Legal, and cross-functional teams to operationalize external partnership agreement(s);
Be conversant with contract terms and interpretation
Track contractual obligations for both Orum and partner as partnership progresses
Work with internal teams to ensure Orum’s contractual obligations are met, e.g. delivery of materials and documents and timely completion of milestones
Ensure that partnership activities are within scope of the agreement
Serve as the single of point of contact for communications with partner(s); facilitate communication and activities between internal team and external partners
In collaboration with external partner’s alliance manager, coordinate, plan, and, as needed, facilitate joint team, functional, and governance meetings, e.g. joint steering committee; capture meeting minutes and action items; follow up on action items
As needed, lead and support team members in preparing for meetings and key communications with partners
Coordinate and facilitate with appropriate functions to address potential contract ambiguity
Skills, Abilities & Competencies
Must have BS or MS with 4+ years research bench work experience using molecular biology tools/techniques or PhD in biological sciences. Experience in immunology and/or oncology, or targeted protein degradation a plus.
5+ years direct project and/or alliance management experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Collaborative mindset with ability to work with many different personality types
Self-driven with can-do attitude; be able to execute and get things done
Proven problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to handle ambiguity and yet be able to solve problems, and be decisive
Excellent attention to detail with capacity to think strategically
Proficiency using electronic tools such as Slack and SmartSheets,
Innovative and entrepreneurial, enjoys working in an information-rich, fast-paced, international, diverse, and rapidly growing company environment
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
