At BSP, our team consists of a six-terminal network across our coverage area to ensure swift deliveries for customers.We have immediate openings for our Yard Jockey/Dock Worker 3rd Shift position,Full Time – Mon thru Fri Start time: 6:00 PM $23.00 Per hour including a $1,000 sign on bonusWhat you will do on a typical shift:Safely handle and maneuver tractor/trailers and other large equipment to facilitate the loading and unloading operations in the yardPerform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of the yard and dock equipmentProperly cube, load and unload freight using a forklift, pallet jack, hand truck or by handProperly load freight to prevent damage and shifting in transit by blocking and bracing and thru the use of load bars, straps, dunnage and air bags.Accurately set up, break down and hook trailers safelyEnsure all pup trailers have tilt bar to be lowered prior to loading of freightRaise and lower landing gearMonitor yard for unsafe drivers and non-employees; notify managementWork in outdoor weather conditionsPerform all duties of dockworker as requestedCommunicate effectively with Dock supervision, Line Haul drivers and Fleet Services personnel on a continual basis.Regular attendance is required.Operational, safety and other needs may require the employee to perform other duties as assigned.What you need at a minimum to succeed at BSP: If a CDL holder, must be registered with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol ClearinghouseExperience in the transportation industry is preferability to operate forklift (7500 lb. vehicle)Must be able to push or pull loaded pallet jack and/or hand truck with a minimum load of 70lbsMust be capable of dropping/hooking and coupling trailers which involves cranking landing gear, pulling 5th wheel pin which takes approximately 65 lbs. of pressure; and maneuvering a trailer dollyNight/weekend shifts may be requiredMust be able to lift approximately 70 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the jobMust be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple prioritiesMust pass a pre-employment Physical and will be subject to a criminal history background check.Benefits for FT Employees Include:Generous Vacation PolicyHolidays – 7 per yearMedical Plan – 75% funded by companyDentalVisionLife insurance company paidShort Term Disability company paidFSA/DCA (flexible spending account/dependent care reimbursement account)401(k) Plan with company matchProudly family-owned and operated since 1882.
