Controller / Head of AccountingAbout the OpportunityA rapidly growing Denton County-based company is seeking a hands-on Controller / Head of Accounting to build and lead its accounting function during a period of significant growth.This is a unique opportunity to join an entrepreneurial organization that has scaled quickly and is now bringing its accounting operations fully in-house. The company is looking for a leader who can establish structure, create scalable processes, optimize systems, and serve as the go-to accounting expert for the business.Reporting directly to executive leadership, this role requires both strategic thinking and a willingness to roll up your sleeves. You'll be responsible for everything from transactional accounting and financial reporting to system optimization, inventory accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.Why This Role Is DifferentThis is not a maintenance-mode Controller position.The company is standing up its accounting function internally and needs someone who can build the foundation, clean up existing processes, and create a scalable finance infrastructure capable of supporting significant future growth.Initially, this will be a highly hands-on role. Over time, you'll have the opportunity to help build and lead the accounting team as the organization continues to expand.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial OperationsOwn the full accounting function across multiple entitiesLead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processesOversee AP, AR, cash management, collections, and bank reconciliationsMaintain general ledger integrity and financial reporting accuracyCoordinate with external tax advisors, auditors, and banking partnersERP & Systems LeadershipServe as the internal subject matter expert for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business CentralEvaluate, improve, and optimize accounting processes and system workflowsEnsure ERP data integrity and reporting accuracyDrive process improvements and automation initiativesInventory & Cost AccountingEstablish and maintain inventory accounting processesManage COGS reporting, margin analysis, and financial operational reportingPartner with operations and logistics teams to improve visibility and controlsFinancial Planning & AnalysisPrepare monthly financial statements and management reportsDevelop budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning processesCreate meaningful reporting and KPIs for executive leadershipProcess Development & ControlsBuild scalable accounting processes from the ground upEstablish internal controls and financial governanceSupport the company's transition to a best-in-class accounting environmentQualifications7+ years of progressive accounting experienceStrong Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience requiredExperience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, and multi-entity environmentsStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reportingProven ability to improve processes and implement controlsComfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environmentSelf-starter who enjoys building, fixing, and creating structureLooking for a long-term opportunity to grow with an organizationRemote initially, then 2-3 days in the office in Denton County.If you have deep Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (Nav, GP, 365) expertise and are excited by the opportunity to build an accounting function rather than simply maintain one, we'd love to connect.
