Generational Noor Community Resource Coordinator 124 Canal Street Pay $20-25 Depending on Experience About Generational Noor: Generational Noor is a nonprofit organization founded by Amran Osman in 2021, addressing the opioid epidemic within Maine's BIPOC and immigrant community. We focus on making support accessible, retaining, engaging, and supporting BIPOC individuals seeking to end their substance dependency, while providing culturally responsive peer recovery support. Through community conversations, training, and a two-generational approach, we organize events that focus on addressing substance use disorder (SUD) and gun violence. Position Overview: The Community Resource Coordinator will play a vital role in facilitating and organizing events that engage the BIPOC and immigrant communities, particularly male youth. The coordinator will collaborate with staff and volunteers, manage the mentorship program, and ensure that community voices are heard. This role focuses on both event management and community outreach, connecting stakeholders and implementing programs aligned with Generational Noor’s mission. The ideal candidate will have experience in event planning, volunteer coordination, and community engagement, with a deep understanding of the needs of immigrant and BIPOC communities in Maine. Key Responsibilities: Event Planning and Execution: Develop and organize community events that support Generational Noor’s mission. Ensure Community Events Coordinators are on-site and performing their duties effectively during events. Oversee event logistics, including securing venues, managing supplies (food, decorations), and coordinating with vendors. Assist with event budgeting, keeping accurate financial records, and submitting receipts and expense reports. Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for community events. Track volunteer hours, attendance, and participation. Ensure volunteers are assigned clear roles and responsibilities at events, and manage their sign-in and participation. Mentorship Program Management: Manage the mentorship program, ensuring mentors and mentees are well-matched and foster successful, productive relationships. Provide ongoing support to mentors and mentees through regular check-ins and resource distribution. Youth Engagement: Ensure youth voices, particularly from male youth in the immigrant and BIPOC communities, are considered in event planning and programming. Design and implement programs aimed at engaging male youth, ensuring their active participation in community activities. Track youth attendance and maintain detailed records of their involvement in events. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with internal staff and volunteers to brainstorm event ideas and ensure successful execution. Communicate with external partners, vendors, and community stakeholders to secure partnerships and foster collaboration. Attend community meetings on behalf of Generational Noor to strengthen relationships and advance the organization’s mission. Community Outreach: Serve as a representative of Generational Noor, promoting the organization’s goals and programs at community meetings and events. Build relationships with stakeholders, community leaders, and other organizations to expand the reach of Generational Noor’s services. Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records of events, including attendance, budgeting, and volunteer participation. Create reports and updates for the executive team regarding event outcomes and program success. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Nonprofit Management, or related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 1 year of experience in community outreach, event planning, or nonprofit program coordination. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines. Experience working with BIPOC and immigrant communities, particularly with youth programming. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire community members and volunteers. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and event management tools. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for events.
