Director, Hematology, Oncology & Radiation OncologyChicagoland-Based Community Cancer Institute | Multi-Site Oncology LeadershipAbout the OrganizationWe are partnered with a leading, physician-led healthcare organization that is continuing to invest heavily in expanding and enhancing its oncology platform across the Chicagoland market. The organization recently launched a brand-new community cancer institute designed to bring together advanced oncology care, radiation oncology, infusion services, and clinical research in a highly coordinated, patient-centered model.The cancer program currently spans four locations throughout the western and southern Chicago suburbs and continues to evolve toward a more specialized, academically aligned oncology model with deeper integration across research, infusion, and multidisciplinary cancer care services.The OpportunityThis is a high-impact operational and clinical leadership role overseeing hematology, oncology, and radiation oncology services across a growing community-based cancer network. Reporting to the VP of Clinical Operations, the Director will partner closely with physician leadership, pharmacy/infusion leadership, and research leadership to continue building a best-in-class oncology program focused on patient access, care coordination, operational excellence, and clinical quality.The ideal candidate will bring strong oncology operations experience, thrive in complex multidisciplinary environments, and be passionate about improving the patient journey from diagnosis through treatment and survivorship.This role will oversee oncology operations across four sites, including hematology/oncology, radiation oncology, APP operations, and clinic support teams.Key ResponsibilitiesOncology Operations Leadership• Provide operational and strategic leadership across hematology, medical oncology, and radiation oncology services.• Partner closely with physician leaders to optimize workflows, staffing models, patient access, and operational performance.• Drive consistency, efficiency, and operational standardization across multiple oncology practice locations.• Support the continued growth and expansion of oncology programs, including collaboration with infusion services and research initiatives.Patient Experience & Care Coordination• Lead initiatives focused on enhancing the oncology patient journey from diagnosis through treatment and ongoing care.• Improve care coordination, patient throughput, navigation services, and the overall patient experience.• Develop and implement operational processes that improve speed-to-treatment and continuity of care.Team Leadership & Development• Lead, mentor, and support managers, supervisors, APP leadership, and operational teams across oncology service lines.• Collaborate with clinical and physician leaders to strengthen staffing strategies, employee engagement, and operational alignment.• Foster a collaborative, patient-centered culture focused on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.Strategic & Program Development• Support the development and expansion of specialized oncology programs aligned with academic and research partnerships.• Collaborate closely with research leadership to strengthen clinical trial operations and research integration efforts.• Partner with executive leadership on operational strategy, growth planning, and organizational performance improvement initiatives.Financial & Performance Management• Oversee operational budgets, staffing models, productivity measures, and performance reporting processes.• Utilize operational and financial data to identify improvement opportunities and drive sustainable growth initiatives.• Monitor KPIs related to patient access, throughput, staffing, patient satisfaction, and operational performance.What We’re Looking For• 5+ years of progressive leadership experience within oncology, infusion services, radiation oncology, or multi-site ambulatory healthcare operations.• Clinical background preferred, including RN, APP, or other relevant clinical leadership experience, though not required for candidates with strong oncology operations expertise.• Strong understanding of oncology workflows, multidisciplinary cancer care delivery, and physician practice operations.• Experience partnering closely with physicians and interdisciplinary clinical teams.• Experience supporting oncology research programs and infusion operations strongly preferred.• Demonstrated ability to lead complex teams and drive operational improvements across multi-site healthcare environments.• Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational leadership skills.Why This Role• Opportunity to help shape and expand a growing community cancer institute.• High-visibility role partnering directly with executive leadership, physicians, infusion leadership, and research teams.• Ability to impact the full oncology patient experience across diagnosis, treatment, and care coordination.• Growing and clinically advanced oncology platform with continued investment and expansion initiatives.• Collaborative, physician-led culture focused on innovation, operational excellence, and patient-centered care.
