At Woodlake, your skills are respected, your contributions matter, and your continued development is supported.Position SummaryThe Veterinary Technician plays a crucial role in supporting veterinarians in delivering high-quality medical care to patients. This position involves technical expertise, client communication, and teamwork to ensure the well-being of both patients and pet owners.Primary ResponsibilitiesAssist veterinarians in physical exams, diagnostics, and medical treatmentsPerform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and fluid administrationAdminister medications, vaccinations, and prescribed treatmentsMonitor anesthesia and assist in surgical proceduresConduct dental prophylaxis, including scaling and polishingTake and develop radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the veterinarianCollect and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, feces, cytology)Maintain accurate patient records and medical history documentationEducate pet owners on preventive care, post-surgical care, and treatment plansAssist in emergency situations, providing stabilization and critical care supportEnsure cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of treatment areas and equipmentManage inventory of medical supplies and pharmaceuticalsTrain and mentor veterinary assistants as neededRequired QualificationsLicensed/Registered Veterinary Technician (LVT/RVT/CVT) preferredProficiency in anesthesia monitoring, laboratory work, and patient handlingStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentPassion for patient care and continuous learningWork Environment & Physical RequirementsAbility to lift and restrain animals up to 50 lbsExposure to noise, odors, animal dander, and potential hazardsStanding, bending, and walking for extended periodsThis job description outlines the primary duties and expectations for the Veterinary Technician position at this location.
