Wine and Spirits Clerk

Job Description PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To provide stocking and merchandising support for the Wine & Spirits Department and to contribute toward ensuring a positive shopping environment for customers and a positive working environment for employees.NATURE AND SCOPE: Emphasis in this position is on ensuring quality customer service, stocking, cutting and display building in order to ensure maximum product availability and department sales. This position requires ongoing walking, moderate to heavy lifting, operation of pallet jack, use of box cutter, judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, listening skills and reading. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. Assignments and work direction are provided by the Wine & Spirits Manager or person in charge.ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONSEnsure quality customer serviceAnswer questions about products and direct customers to what they may be looking forAssist customers with product location. Take the customers directly to the item they are looking forPerform aisle stocking and display building and maintenanceComplete assignments in allotted timeHandle product carefully to avoid damageUse proper case cutting techniqueEnsure correct placement of stockRotate and face productWork display to shelf itemsPerform cutting and sorting of wine & spirit stock loadsComplete assignments in allotted timeHandle product properly to avoid damageSort stock by aisle, load onto cart or pallet in stable manner and move to correct aisleMaintain production counts by pallets and/or casesPerform clean-up of sales floor and backroomPick up and compact cardboard, stack pallets, clean up spills, store overstock, dispose of used razor blades in designated areasMiscellaneousAnswer and respond to department phone calls in a timely and consistent mannerAssist clerks with price checks and product replacementFollow all store and department policies and proceduresFUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTSPhysicalLifting/carrying up to 75 lbs.Pushing/pulling up to 2500 lbs.Equipment operation (box cutter, flat bed, fork lift, pallet jack, mop, broom, telephone)Stooping, bending, reading, turning, squatting, kneeling, reaching, walking, standing, climbing ladders, working above floor levelMentalJudgment/decision makingListening skillsSocial skills/verbal interactionMemorizationReading, writing, mathIMPORTANT DISCLOSURE NOTICEThe job duties, elements, responsibilities, skills, functions, experience, educational factors, and the requirements and conditions listed in this job description are representative only and not exhaustive of the tasks that an employee may be required to perform.
