The DevEx team at CVS is building a Feature Flagging platform to enable engineering teams across CVS Digital to control and roll out new features and updates to their applications, at the scale of a Fortune 4 company.Currently, we are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our team. This engineer will be a part of a core group building the platform on Open Source technologies and standards to improve how applications and features are delivered and scaled. You will collaborate with the team and the Open Source community to ensure our Feature Flagging platform is robust, performant, secure, and adaptable to business needs.This is a high-impact, back-end focused engineering role where you will contribute to the APIs for managing feature flags and tracking their performance and evaluations. It is ideal for someone with experience in analytics and leveraging feature flags, with a solid foundation in Node.EXPERIENCE FOR THE ROLEDevelop scalable engineering solutions for the feature flagging platformContribute to technical decisions alongside staff and distinguished engineersCollaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and application teamsProvide technical support to product teams and advise on best practicesActively participate in peer code reviews, to learn from and provide feedback to your fellow engineersContribute unit and functional tests to uphold the quality of the platformEnsure adherence to performance & security standardsMonitor, debug, and optimize application performanceEngage in continuous improvement projects within the teamREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, preferably within a large matrixed environment3+ years of experience within backend software development, specifically with Node and Typescript3+ years of cloud platform experience (GCP preferred)3+ years of experience with RESTful API design and microservice architecture2+ years of experience with PostgreSQL databases, including query optimization and migration management2+ years of experience with DevOps tools, processes, and culture (e.g., Docker, Git, GitHub Actions, etc.)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience leveraging observability signals (e.g., logging, metrics, tracing)Familiarity working in monoreposContributions to and involvement in Open Source projectsInterest in leveraging AI to enhance developer experiencesExperience leveraging feature flaggingFamiliarity with A/B testing & ExperimentationFamiliarity using ORMsFamiliarity with analytical databases (Clickhouse)Experience working as a member of an Agile software development teamStrong verbal and written communication skills demonstrating technical leadershipStrong analytical and troubleshooting skillsExperience working on a project using mature CI/CD practicesEDUCATIONBachelor's degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)BUSINESS OVERVIEWBring your heart to CVS Health Every one of us at CVS Health shares a single, clear purpose: Bringing our heart to every moment of your health.
