Posted: 03/31/2026 Job Number: 148755 Job DescriptionMadden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking an experienced Machining Prototype Technician to support the build and development of precision rotating machinery used in advanced energy systems.This is a hands-on role focused on assembling, machining, and prototyping turbine and generator systems. You'll work closely with engineers to build and refine complex mechanical assemblies while supporting rapid prototype development.This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building complex hardware and working in an R&D environment.Pay: $50-65/hr+Machining Prototype Technician Responsibilities:Assemble hydroturbine and generator components including rotors, stators, shafts, bearings, and housingsPerform precision alignment of rotating assemblies including rotor-stator airgap verificationSupport prototype builds, testing, teardown, and design iterationsPerform machining operations such as lathe, milling, drilling, and grindingFabricatate custom fixtures, jigs, and assembly toolingPerform dimensional inspection using precision metrology toolsWork with engineers to improve manufacturability and assembly processesMachining Prototype Technician Qualifications:10+ years of experience in similar roleExperience assembling precision mechanical or rotating equipment (turbines, motors, generators, compressors, etc.)Experience operating multi-axis CNC machines to create shafts, turbines, runners, fixtures, and toolingStrong hands-on mechanical and machining skillsUnderstanding of hydro turbines and elcetrical machines (stators, windings, insulation systems)Ability to read and interpret technical drawingsFamiliarity with precision measurement toolsExperience with instrumentation and controls (pressure transducers, thermocouples, TRDs, etc)Experience in prototype, R&D, or advanced manufacturing environments preferredBenefits$50-$65/hr+Company equity opportunities when hired onHealth, dental, and vision insurancePTO and flexible schedulingOpportunity to work on advanced mechanical systems in a collaborative engineering environmentRelocation assistance if needed
