Job Summary
The Field Technician – Critical Infrastructure is a core execution role supporting hyperscale and colocation data center construction projects ranging from 40 MW to 200 MW. This position performs hands-on installation, testing, and support activities under the direction of senior field technicians, field leads, and the site superintendent. The Field Technician is expected to follow established plans, procedures, and safety requirements while developing technical skills and job-site proficiency.
This role emphasizes quality execution, reliability, and safety compliance while building experience for advancement to senior field roles.
Essential Functions
Field Installation & Support (50%)
Perform installation and support tasks including device mounting, cable routing, terminations, labeling, and equipment setup.
Assist with testing, checkout, and verification activities as directed.
Use hand tools, power tools, and test equipment safely and effectively.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
Coordination & Task Execution (25%)
Follow daily work direction from senior field technicians and field leads.
Coordinate task sequencing with adjacent trades as directed.
Communicate work progress, material needs, and issues to field leadership.
Support material staging, inventory tracking, and tool readiness.
Safety & Quality Compliance (20%)
Perform all work in accordance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, STC safety policies, and project-specific safety requirements.
Participate in daily toolbox talks and pre-task planning.
Comply with PPE requirements and safe work practices.
Identify and report unsafe conditions or quality issues immediately.
Documentation & Closeout Support (5%)
Assist with redlines, punchlists, and task closeout documentation as directed.
Support testing documentation and issue tracking efforts.
Completion of Assigned Tasks and Deliverables on Time and on Budget
Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned
Position Requirements
2–4 years of experience in construction, electrical, controls, or related field roles (mission-critical experience preferred but not required)
Familiarity with basic installation practices, tools, and job-site safety requirements
Ability to follow drawings, instructions, and work plans
Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced construction environment
Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively with field leadership and peers
Physical Demands
Frequently manipulating, moving, or grasping tools, devices, and materials
Frequently walking and working in active construction environments, including ladders, stairs, and uneven terrain
Frequently exposed to indoor and outdoor conditions including heat, cold, dust, and noise
Occasionally required to position self under or over equipment, including in confined spaces
Occasionally required to lift or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
Frequently required to wear PPE and work in high-noise environments
Travel / Relocation Requirements
Must have a valid driver's license and ability to rent vehicles
Full-time presence at the assigned project site
Willingness to work extended hours and night shifts during critical execution windows
Up to 25% travel to other STC job sites as business needs require
Valid REAL ID or passport required for domestic travel
Education / Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical training, apprenticeship, or vocational education in electrical, controls, or construction-related fields preferred but not required
Demonstrated ability to learn job-site practices and technical skills through hands-on experience

Pay Range
63,000 - 76,650 USD per year (Remote)
