Department: HealthUnion Affiliation: AFSCMEWork Schedule: Monday - Friday, 3:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.Total Hours Per Week: 40INTRODUCTIONThis classification performs a variety of tasks involving light labor in the cleaning, maintenance, and care of buildings, facilities, and grounds of the County facilities and does related work as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
(Duties assigned to this level include, but are not limited to, the following examples. Any one position may not perform all listed tasks.) Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors, operate power cleaning equipment such as buffer, sweeper, vacuum cleaners.Empty wastebaskets. Clean and disinfect water fountains.Clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures; replenish restroom supplies. Perform routine electrical, plumbing and construction maintenance as needed; perform maintenance painting. Perform external building maintenance such as painting, pressure washing, etc. Move and set up furniture; store records in archives; maintain heating system. Wash windows, blinds, walls and ceilings. Replace burned out light bulbs; make minor repairs to toilets, faucets, sinks, etc. Perform grounds maintenance and care such as cutting grass, pruning shrubs and pulling weeds in landscaped areas, and sweeping steps and walkways. Operate and maintain power equipment such as chain saws, pressure washers, riding mowers, various lawn equipment, etc. Inventory, order, and refill cleaning materials and equipment needed to do the work. Adjust, clean, and oil equipment and change attachments. Perform related work as required.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLSThe employee receives general instructions regarding the work to be done and the timeframes. Recurring routine assignments are independently performed by the employee on the basis of past experience. GUIDELINESWork is performed within department policies and procedures, building maintenance and gardening references, and equipment manuals. Guidelines are closely followed with little need for deviation. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTWork is performed both inside and outside. It can involve bending, climbing, kneeling, heavy lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, stooping, extended periods of standing and walking, and exposure to cleaning and landscaping chemicals.
