POSITION SUMMARY: The eMentor provides live, online foreign language instruction to Air Force service members, delivering participant-centered lessons that build language proficiency and cross-cultural communication skills using government-provided curricula and a secure virtual platform. Responsibilities include teaching all four language modalities, providing individualized feedback, conducting assessments, and supporting administrative and technical aspects of course delivery in accordance with Air Force standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide participant-centered, tailored instruction via the company provided UCC platform. Teach one-on-one or in small groups (2–4 Scholars), scheduled to accommodate global time zones and operational demands. Administer syllabi and lesson plans provided by the Client. Prepare instructional aids (slides, digital whiteboard content) and open-source supporting materials for each session. Adapt materials for linguistic and cultural appropriateness. Operate the UCC platform and resolve routine technical issues. Teach all four language modalities: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Incorporate cross-cultural knowledge and strengthen student intercultural communication skills. Integrate current geopolitical events and mission-relevant content, especially for advanced students. Provide feedback to support student language development and assign homework. Conduct assessments using client-provided rubrics to assess listening, reading, writing, and reading capabilities. Support the Instructional Support and Scheduling team by providing instructional availability and communicating classroom data as needed. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED: Must possess language skills in the target language(s) equivalent to an ILR Advanced Professional Proficiency or a “Superior” rating in speaking and writing on the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) proficiency scale for each language and dialect they will instruct. Hold a bachelor’s level degree in language instruction or a related social science field, such as History, Political Science, International Relations, Anthropology, Archeology, and Cultural Geography, and/or possess a minimum of five years of embedded experience in the target culture(s). Be capable of delivering instruction and conducting assessments across proficiency levels ranging from ILR level 0 through ILR Level 3+. Be native to regions where the language is commonly spoken and/or a professional language instructor with demonstrated expertise in the relevant cultures and customs. Physical and Environmental Requirements: May be required to use computer screen for extensive periods of time.
