Summer 2026 Midland County Internship Program The Summer 2026 Midland County Internship Program is a paid, part-time opportunity for currently enrolled college students to gain hands-on experience in local government operations. Interns will work 28 hours per week, Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., from June 1st to July 9th, 2026, in various departments aligned with their academic interests. Eligible applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be at least 18 years of age.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Administrative Support
Assist with filing, scanning, data entry, and document organization.
Prepare correspondence, reports, or presentations as directed.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Research And Analysis
Conduct basic research on assigned topics or projects.
Compile data and summarize findings for supervisor review.
Customer Service
Greet and assist visitors, answer phones, and direct inquiries appropriately.
Provide courteous and professional service to the public and staff.
Project Assistance
Support ongoing departmental initiatives and special projects.
Attend meetings and take notes as requested.
Recordkeeping And Data Management
Update spreadsheets, databases, and logs with accuracy.
Track and report progress on assigned tasks.
Communication Support
Assist with drafting internal communications, newsletters, or social media posts (if applicable).
Distribute notices, memos, and flyers as directed.
Compliance And Policy Adherence
Follow organizational policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Complete any required training related to data privacy or public service ethics.
Qualifications, Education, And/Or Experience Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Must be pursuing a degree in a field related to the internship assignment (e.g., public administration, business, communications, engineering, etc.).
Internship assignments will be matched as closely as possible to the candidate's academic major or area of interest.
Knowledge, Skills And/Or Ability Knowledge of basic office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Skill in using common computer software applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to follow instructions, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate ethical behavior in handling sensitive information.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively with diverse teams, the public, and supervisors.
Ability to conduct basic research, gather data, and summarize findings.
Willingness to learn and apply new concepts relevant to assigned departmental tasks.
Ability to adapt to changing assignments and priorities in a professional manner.
