Bookkeeper - Team Lead
Track is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper, Team Lead to join our growing team. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area.
In this role, you'll balance hands-on client work with people leadership. You'll manage a portfolio of bookkeeping clients while serving as a technical expert, mentor, and quality lead for the broader bookkeeping team. You'll play a key role in ensuring accuracy, consistency, and operational excellence across client financials—while helping the team grow and perform at a high level.
Client Bookkeeping & Financial Management (70%)
At full capacity, you'll manage month-end bookkeeping and close for approximately 15–20 clients , depending on complexity. Responsibilities include:
Perform full-cycle bookkeeping and month-end close
Ensure accurate transaction categorization and maintain optimized charts of accounts for performance and tax analysis
Reconcile revenue between accounting software and payment processors (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, and industry-specific platforms)
Record payroll accurately using third-party providers such as Gusto and ADP
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan balances
Prepare financial statements (Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet), including high-level analysis
Deliver monthly financial insights to clients via email recaps and/or Loom videos
Onboard new clients to QuickBooks Online and clean up or standardize existing QBO files
Serve as the primary point of contact for higher-complexity bookkeeping clients
Handle occasional AR/AP needs for select clients
Oversee and/or complete annual 1099 filings
Team Leadership & Operational Oversight (30%)
Review client files and provide quality control for other bookkeepers
Coach and mentor junior bookkeepers to improve accuracy, efficiency, and client communication
Assist with workflow management and capacity planning
Standardize processes and implement best practices for month-end close and reporting
Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new bookkeeping team members as needed
Qualifications
4+ years of professional bookkeeping or accounting experience
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online (required)
Solid understanding of accounting principles and best practices
Proven ability to manage multiple clients with varying levels of complexity
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently in a hybrid/remote environment while managing team workflows
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Experience with inventory accounting (retail or e-commerce) is preferred
Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred, but not required for candidates with relevant experience
