Laser Technician – CNC Fiber Laser (1st Shift)Location: Decatur, IL (On-site)Schedule: Monday–Friday | 1st ShiftEmployment Type: Full-TimeAbout The RoleAlign Production Systems is looking for a skilled Laser Technician to run and support production on our CNC fiber laser equipment. This role is hands-on and focused on producing high-quality parts from mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum in a clean, organized manufacturing environment.If you take pride in your work, understand prints, and care about running equipment the right way — not just fast — this could be a great fit.Bystronic fiber laser experience is a strong plus.What You’ll Be DoingOperate a CNC fiber optic laser to cut parts to print and customer specificationsSet up jobs by verifying material, thickness, and correct programsLoad and unload material using overhead cranes, magnets, forklifts, or hoistsPerform in-process quality checks to ensure accuracy and cut qualityComplete secondary operations such as deburring, cleaning, and part prepWork with Engineering or Programming to improve nesting and optimize programs when neededIdentify and address defects or nonconforming partsAccurately track labor and production activityMaintain a safe, organized workspace using 5S/6S standardsSupport continuous improvement efforts and collaborate with the fabrication teamAssist other production areas as needed (fabrication, welding, assembly, paint, etc.)Occasionally support customer field service work when requiredWhat We’re Looking ForRequiredExperience operating CNC equipment (laser, plasma, press brake, punch, waterjet, etc.)Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructionsComfortable using measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, basic inspection tools)Computer skills and familiarity with CNC programs or production systemsAbility to work independently, manage time, and meet production schedulesStrong commitment to safety and qualityPreferredExperience with Bystronic lasers Familiarity with nesting software or CNC program supportExperience working with steel, aluminum, and stainless in a fabrication environmentWork Environment & Physical RequirementsOn-your-feet role in a manufacturing environmentRegular interaction with moving machinery, cranes, forklifts, and hoistsAbility to lift or move materials with mechanical assistanceRequired use of PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, safety footwear)
