We are currently hiring a Senior RF Electrical Engineer to work out of our corporate office in Beverly, MA.ResponsibilitiesLead the design, development, and validation of RF systems and subsystems used in semiconductor capital equipmentPerform RF chain analysis including gain, noise figure, linearity, and stability across system architectureDesign and optimize matching networks for power transfer, efficiency, and signal integrityDevelop RF PCB layouts, including controlled impedance routing, grounding strategies, and signal isolationConduct network measurements and analysis using lab equipment such as vector network analyzers and spectrum analyzersDesign and characterize RF resonators, filters, and passive componentsDevelop low-noise oscillators and RF signal generation circuitsPerform system-level integration of RF subsystems with power, control systems, and electromechanical assembliesRun simulations using 3D electromagnetic and RF simulation tools to validate designs and reduce riskConduct experimental testing, analyze performance data, and drive iterative design improvementsEnsure adherence to product development processes including:Requirements definitionSystem architectureDesign reviewsVerification and validation testingEnsure designs meet applicable safety, regulatory, and industry standardsSelect RF components and materials based on frequency performance, thermal behavior, and reliabilityCollaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to deliver manufacturable, high-performance designsSupport supplier selection and evaluate vendor capabilities for RF components and assembliesProvide technical leadership in RF design best practices, signal integrity, and system optimizationBasic QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)Minimum 5-10 years of experience in RF and high-frequency hardware designStrong experience with:RF system design and analysisMatching network design and tuningRF PCB layout and stack-up definitionRF measurement techniques and lab instrumentationHands-on experience with RF test equipment (e.g., VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generators)Solid understanding of signal integrity, electromagnetic behavior, and noise mitigationExperience participating in technical design reviews and structured development processesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience in:Semiconductor capital equipmentRF power delivery systems or plasma systemsOscillator and frequency synthesis designResonator or filter designExperience with RF simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, CST, ADS, or similar 3D EM tools)PCB design experience using tools such as Altium or PADSFamiliarity with Creo Schematic, AutoCAD, or similar toolsExperience with Windchill or other PLM systemsExperience working with global or offshore engineering teamsEQUAL OPPORTUNITY STATEMENTIt is the policy of Axcelis to provide equal opportunity in all areas of employment for all persons free from discrimination based on race, sex, religion, age, color, national origin, disability status, medical condition (including pregnancy), veteran status, sexual orientation, marital status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law. The range provides the opportunity for growth and progression asyou develop within the role.Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package which includes eligibility in theAxcelis Team Incentive bonus plan, and comprehensive benefits package (for regularemployees working 20+ hours a week).
