Systems Engineer

Job Description Join an elite group dedicated to continuous personal improvement as GCT is currently seeking a mid-level Systems Engineer to work at a location near GCT HQ in Chantilly, VA. The candidate will focus on designing and maintaining systems and performing analysis of situations or data for modeling purposes, along with other duties. The candidate will have opportunities to participate in software design and development. Junior systems engineering positions are also available. CLEARANCE: TS/SCI w/Full Scope Polygraph (Active or used within 24 months) Qualifications Completed B.S. in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a closely related technical field 5-10 years of relevant experience Required skills and abilities NFS, SAMBA, AD/LDAP integration, Web Servers, Tomcat, LVM, YUM, and Linux security hardening Able to install Linux servers, troubleshoot hardware/software installation, and basic networking issues Familiarity with BASH Scripting, kickstart deployments Familiarity with Red Hat Satellite Server technologies Familiarity with configuring Storage Area Network connectivity over Fiber Channel Desired skills Familiarity with Windows systems, VMWare, Hadoop, and Storage Area Networks, Big Data Analytical environments Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently with little supervision Demonstrated ability to learn, retain, and apply good interpersonal skills, and perform effectively under time pressure Core responsibilities Setting up and managing Linux systems, applications and environments and ensuring those systems comply with government security standards Apache web server administration and configuration Maintaining high availability infrastructure ensuring security compliances and high-level performance while minimizing service interruption Providing network systems securities through policy enforcement and monitoring access Assisting in the design of multi‑server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, WINS, etc. Troubleshooting network hardware and software applications, OS upgrades, and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services Benefits A comprehensive benefits package is provided, which includes company‑paid single medical, dental, life, disability, and long‑term care insurances (with contributions to family premiums), a matching 401(k) plan, 34 days off per year including 10 federal holidays plus the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s eves.
