MEP Project Manager - Data Centers MEP Project Manager - Data Centers Position Overview Lead and deliver mission-critical MEP scope for hyperscale data center projects from preconstruction through turnover. Responsible for managing electrical and mechanical systems design, construction, commissioning, budget, schedule, safety and quality while coordinating with owners, design teams, contractors and site superintendents to ensure reliable, on-time delivery of large-scale data center facilities. Key Responsibilities Manage full lifecycle of MEP work for hyperscale data center projects, including preconstruction, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout. Provide technical leadership for electrical and mechanical systems (power distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, CRAC/CRAH, chillers, cooling distribution, fire suppression and building automation). Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, forecasts and KPI reporting; drive schedule adherence and cost control. Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including superintendents, subcontractors, designers, commissioning agents and owners representatives. Oversee quality assurance, commissioning and system handover to meet mission-critical availability and redundancy requirements. Manage contractor performance, review submittals, approve change orders and resolve field technical issues to minimize schedule risk. Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE, TIA-942, local regulations) and corporate safety programs. Identify and mitigate project risks, prepare contingency plans and communicate critical issues to stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement, lessons learned capture and implement best practices for hyperscale data center construction. Represent the company in client meetings, project reviews and site walkthroughs; maintain strong client relationships and communication. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Construction Engineering, Construction Management or related field; advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of progressive MEP project management experience with a minimum of 5 years on hyperscale or large mission-critical data center projects. Demonstrated experience managing electrical and mechanical systems in data centers, including UPS, generators, switchgear, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, and fire suppression systems. Proven track record as a Project Manager and/or Superintendent in heavy construction or MEP contracting environments, with direct field oversight experience. Strong knowledge of codes and standards relevant to data centers (NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE, TIA-942) and commissioning practices (Cx). Experience with project controls tools, scheduling software (Primavera/MS Project), cost management and reporting, and BIM/Revit workflows. Exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to lead cross-functional teams and client-facing meetings. PMP, PE or relevant certifications preferred; proven ability to manage multiple projects, budgets and teams in fast-paced environments. Willingness to travel to project sites and work extended hours as required to meet mission-critical milestones.
