Laundry Aid

Hilltop Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center - The Laundry Aide is responsible for ensuring residents receive clean, properly cared for linens, clothing, and personal garments in a safe, sanitary, and timely manner. This role helps maintain a clean and comfortable environment for residents while supporting the facility's commitment to quality care and infection control standards.Duties & ResponsibilitiesSort soiled linens, garments, and laundry items according to established procedures and identify items requiring special treatment or stain removal.Operate laundry equipment safely and effectively to wash, dry, fold, hang, and distribute clean laundry and resident clothing.Deliver clean linens and garments to resident areas daily and as directed.Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry department, including floors, walls, ceilings, equipment, and work areas.Dispose of trash and soiled materials in accordance with sanitation and infection control procedures.Ensure laundry carts, supplies, and equipment are stored properly and work areas remain free from hazards.Follow all infection control, universal precaution, and safety guidelines when handling soiled linens and potentially infectious materials.Wear appropriate protective equipment when required.Monitor laundry equipment for proper operation and report malfunctions, breakdowns, or supply needs to the supervisor promptly.Assist during emergency situations by ensuring clean linens and garments are available and distributed appropriately.Turn in unidentified clothing or personal items to Lost & Found.Coordinate daily laundry needs with nursing staff and other departments as necessary.Maintain confidentiality of resident information and respect residents' rights and property at all times.Attend departmental meetings, in-service trainings, and educational programs as assigned.Follow all facility policies regarding fire safety, disaster preparedness, evacuation, infection control, and workplace safety.Complete additional duties as assigned by the Director of Housekeeping or Administrator.QualificationsAbility to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions regarding cleaning solutions, laundry procedures, and safety practices.Ability to work respectfully and professionally with residents, families, visitors, and staff.Compassion, patience, and understanding when working with elderly residents.Ability to perform repetitive tasks and remain physically active throughout the shift.Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move laundry carts, equipment, supplies, and linens weighing up to 50 pounds.Previous laundry or housekeeping experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, but not required.Physical RequirementsFrequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.Exposure to cleaning chemicals, heat, and laundry equipment.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.Why Join Us?Join a team dedicated to creating a clean, comfortable, and caring environment for residents every day.
