In this role, you'll utilize various hand and power tools, following work instructions to achieve our Tennant quality standards. If you enjoy being a part of a team and using your problem-solving skills, then this is the role for you.CORE RESPONSIBILITIESPerform in-process quality checks and communicate resultsPerform housekeeping and 5S to keep the department clean, safe, and well organizedIdentify continuous improvements opportunities and report through the tier structureProficient in multiple sub-assembly operations and shorter cycle time main line stationsPerform on a minimum of 4 overall stations, with at least two of them on the main line, as well as performs on other linesMust be able to float to any line within Value Stream and be effective after receiving trainingRecognize bottlenecks (mechanical, electrical, plumbing etc.) commonly found within the assembly processEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:High school diploma, GED or equivalentTechnical Degree within a related field from an accredited institution or 2-5 years of related mechanical assembly experienceMust be familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures within mechanical and electrical assemblyHistory of continuous improvement within previous positionsRelated manufacturing experience is preferredMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorshipREQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Able to lift up to 40 lbs., routinely lifts up to 25 lbs.Works in multiple positions during a shiftAbility to stand for an 8 hour shiftENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES:Routinely and regularly works near moving mechanical partsOccasionally exposed to hot conditionsOccasionally exposed to non-toxic fumesModerate noise levelOccasionally exposed to oil, grease, gasoline, dust, metal particles and sharp edged materialsSAFETY REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to wear safety glasses, steel toed shoes and hearing protectionPURPOSE/SCOPE:The Assembler will function within a team to assemble and manage the production from receiving parts to shipping finished machines.GENERAL RESPONISIBILITIES:Perform mechanical assembly of products with complex functions requiring independent judgment which are generally built on work benches, but may be built on lift tablesProficient in multiple sub-assembly operations and shorter cycle time main line stationsPerform housekeeping and 5S to keep the department clean, safe, and well organizedUnderstand, participate and focus on continuous improvement activitiesTroubleshoot and adjust to build a quality productPerform on a minimum of 4 overall stations, with at least two of them on the main line, as well as perform on other linesBuild processes are characterized by moderate build times (generally, between 6 to 10 hours). Main line stations can be greater than 90 minutes and sub assembly content will normally exceed 2 hoursProcess requires a moderate amount of troubleshooting and adjustment to build a quality product. Typically these are known issues that take 15 to 60 minutes to diagnoseMaintain company tools and equipmentPerform in-process quality checks and communicate resultsFollow pre-established guidelines, procedures, plans and priorities as set by the supervisorPrioritize goals and rely on experience and judgment to plan workTake on new activities or special assignments when givenPerform other duties as assignedREQUIRED SKILLS:Proficient understanding of mechanical and electrical parts and how they are assembled into product systemsAbility to proactively recognize, communicate, and elevate issues to leadership to minimize impact to lineAbility to navigate and become proficient with Microsoft Windows, Drawing/method layout Locator, Visual Factory and WorkForceAble to meet time standards on all areas of trainingAbility to effectively overcome issues (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, etc.) commonly found within the assembly processesAbility to train others on known assembly processesUnderstands the function of the product being built and how their work impacts functional and quality resultsAbility to recognize bottlenecks and move to point of need to assist others and keep assembly process movingMust successfully pass HEAT training after completion of the courseAbility to be trained on multiple assembly linesAbility to follow detailed work instructionsAbility to use basic hand tools, torque guns and simple electrical devicesAbility to work with limited direct supervisionREQUIRED INTERPERSONAL & BEHAVIORAL SKILLS:Ability to problem-solveAbility to concentrate on tasks, make decisions and work calmly and effectively in a high-pressure, deadline oriented environmentWillingness to be flexible with time and adjust to a changing work environmentAbility to build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally, while maintaining a client service orientationAbility to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with highly confidential informationConsistent attendance either onsite or remotely as needed by the businessAbility to take direction and accept supervisionDemonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment in varied situations
