The role will assist in the development and implementation of processes to maintain proper utilization and functionality. We require that you have advanced knowledge in maintenance best practices and that involves the exercise of discretion and judgment with regards to your teammates, time management and services provided as a part of your normal routine.This role focuses on applying technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated equipment. Responsibilities include working with varying voltage levels (480vac, 240vac, 120vac, and 48vdc, 24vdc) as well as operating and maintain variable frequency drives (VFDs) and industrial automated systems. You will be accountable to the existing Maintenance Supervisor, and Maintenance Manager and will work within a team of experienced technicians/engineers.A majority of the job responsibilities will be focused on the KNAPP supplied automation in the PDC Barzen facility. This role will service and support one of the largest installations of its kind in the world on the newest generation of automated fulfillment equipment, requiring a very high uptime rate.This is an essential onsite role, which requires regular onsite attendance.SchedulesMonday - Thursday, 7:00 p.m. - 5:30 a.m.ORSunday, Friday, Saturday, 5:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.ResponsibilitiesRectify electro-mechanical faults as well as identify and report PLC related issues. Provide expert knowledge and guidance on this subject matter to all assigned areas of assistance; throughout all activities maintain focused on safetyProvide experience and expertise to maintain conveyor and precision automation equipmentProvide first class support on operation and maintenance of installed automated storage and retrieval systems, and storage and picking systems. Quickly and diligently respond, track, record and triage any problems or emergency calls and requestsProvide emergency breakdown and specialized maintenance service support; work against timelines to complete reactive repairsProvide first-class response to operations inquiries and requests, ensuring, as far as reasonably practical, to do the job right the first timeSet up and calibrate precision automation equipmentCreate strong effective working relationships within DigiKey to enabling the distribution of electronic components on the automated systemMeet performance expectations specific to expected output, speed of response, quality of repair, and standards of workmanship.Provide training pertaining to the overall system to DigiKey employees as requiredMaintain quality of service by ensuring clear and precise quality communications, responses to production,Ensure reports and documentation are well written (e.g. complete/thorough, legible, understandable) via tablets, with all correct job numbers entered, and presented to Supervisor on biweekly basis for review and approvalExecute site quality, safety, and any statutory procedures; Utilize appropriate health & safety considerations regarding given tasks; carry out risk assessmentsMeet regularly with the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager to discuss activities, progress and performanceLog all spare parts usage issues appropriately and promptly with the Knapp spare parts team and CMMSEnsure proper care and maintenance of the tools and equipment suppliedLead the mechanical strip-down/re-assembly, basic field wiring, machine calibration, cleaning, and system testing processes as neededProfessionally interact with on-site management keeping them informed of repair and maintenance progression and addressing any concernsPerforms other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.Weekends and overtime if required by workloadAdditional Work ExperienceVerifiable experience providing repairs on various types of machinery systems, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systemsVerifiable ability to interpret and work with electrical circuit diagramsTheoretical and operational experience in the repair, troubleshooting of PLC-based machineryAbility to provide expertise and guidance that contributes a unique interpretation or analysis of our systems to our customersDemonstrated mechanical aptitude including the ability to read assembly drawingsAble to operate hand tools and be able to disassemble and assemble parts onto equipmentAble to follow set up instructions, assembly drawings and check listsDemonstrated commitment to be the best; valuing progress over perfectionStrong problem-solving capabilities; leveraging curiosity, creativity and open-mindedness in solution developmentProcess-oriented mentality; show accountability by taking ownership over your resultsHands-on, team-oriented commitment to continuous improvementExperience in reducing costs through process improvement effortsEffective verbal and written communication skillsStrong attention to detail and exceptional follow-up skillsExceptional people skills, with the ability to gain and maintain trust and confidence of individuals within and outside of DigiKey; embody excellent customer service skills and people make the difference mentalityComputer literate with moderate proficiency with Microsoft Office toolsWilling to learn and adapt to changing role requirementsDemonstrate flexibility and the best use of skills and capabilities throughout daily activitiesExtensive experience in equipment maintenance, modifications and design (preferred)Experience with network equipment interfaces (preferred)Required Knowledge, Skills, And ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED required3-8 years of verifiable progressive experience as Maintenance Repairman, Maintenance Electrician, Machine Repairman, or Industrial Maintenance EngineeringMinimum of 3 years of verifiable mechanical/electrical experienceAssociates of Electrical | Electrical Engineering | Electrical Technology or similar area of study (Preferred)Physical RequirementsPhysical requirements may be: Sitting, squatting, walking, reaching out to arm’s length, reaching over-head, lifting between 50-100 pounds, and readingCompensationThe starting base pay rate for this position is:$26.00______________________________________________________________________Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.
