The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Print Managers, the Print Production Operator will scan and manipulate documents using a variety of different software programs (Adobe Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator). The Print Production Operator will perform tasks such as: cutting, pasting, and creating mail merges and general digital file management. The Print Production Operator will retrieve, create, print, and store complex digital documents and be responsible for light equipment maintenance. The Print Production Operator will also assist with paper and production deliveries, paper and supply inventory management, bindery work as required, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
Operates digital and wide-format printing equipment to produce high-quality printed materials
Prepares and adjust files for printing, including layout alignment, color settings, and sizing for optimal output
Performs regularly quality checks to ensure printed materials meet customer specifications
Operates bindery equipment such as cutters, folders, laminators, and trimmers to complete print jobs
Performs various finishing tasks, including trimming, binding, scoring, folding, and laminating
Assembles and packages completed projects with attention to accuracy and quality
Handles the installation of wide-format prints, including surface preparation, alignment, and secure application on various substrates and surfaces
Performs routine maintenance on all production and finishing equipment to maintain operational efficiency
Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues with printing, bindery, and wide-format equipment as needed
Monitors and manages inventory of production supplies, including paper, inks, laminates, adhesives, and installation tools and reorders when necessary
Works with the production team to prioritize and manage workload according to deadlines and specifications
Communicates effectively with designers and project managers to ensure specifications are understood and met
Ensures timely completion of projects following established schedules and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in print or production technology is a plus
Experience operating digital and/or wide-format printing equipment, bindery, and finishing equipment
Knowledge of print production software and file preparation for print, including experience with RIP software
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with installation of wide-format materials preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to handle heavy materials, operate bindery and print equipment safely, and work on ladders or other elevated surfaces for installation
Manual dexterity and ability to perform detailed tasks with accuracy
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods in a production environment
