The Vacancy The SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Machine Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and monitoring of automated SMT equipment used in the assembly of printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role ensures accurate component placement, high-quality production output, and adherence to manufacturing standards. The operator performs machine setup, material preparation, inspections, minor adjustments, and maintenance to support efficient production flow.Key Responsibilities Machine Setup & OperationSet up SMT machines (e.g., screen printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens) according to production requirements and work instructions.Load component feeders, verify part numbers, and ensure accurate component placement.Operate and monitor SMT lines during production runs to maintain throughput and quality.Adjust machine parameters as needed to address alignment, solder quality, or placement issues.Quality InspectionInspect PCBs for solder defects, component misplacements, and overall assembly quality using AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) equipment or manual inspection techniques.Perform first-article inspections and ensure boards meet IPC and internal quality standards.Identify defects and collaborate with production leads or technicians to resolve issues quickly.Materials & DocumentationPrepare materials such as solder paste, stencils, reels, and trays prior to production.Maintain accurate logs of production activity, component usage, and machine performance.Follow work orders, assembly drawings, and production schedules.Maintenance & TroubleshootingPerform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on SMT equipment.Troubleshoot basic mechanical or software issues on the SMT line.Escalate complex problems to maintenance or engineering teams when needed.Safety & ComplianceAdhere to all ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures and handling requirements.Follow company safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area.Ensure compliance with production and quality standards (e.g., ISO, IPC, internal procedures).Required Skills & Qualifications Previous experience operating SMT or electronics manufacturing equipment preferred.Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, BOMs (Bills of Materials), and work instructions.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.Ability to troubleshoot minor machine or process issues.Basic computer skills and comfort using manufacturing software interfaces.Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials up to 2540 lbs as needed.
