Camp Counselor | Department of Parks and Recreation
We are looking for Camp Counselors to supervise approximately 25 campers at Weston Field, ages 8-12 and make sure they learn and have fun.Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. 34 hrs a week max.Duties And ResponsibilitiesFollow the planned activities and work in tandem with the Scranton Police Department overseeing classroom and outdoor activities or sports.Effectively developing a positive rapport with campers and parentsEncouraging campers to help support their social and emotional growthMotivating campers with effective communicationEducate campers through games and explorations.Escort and oversee children when they go off site for any activities.Set up and maintain any equipmentAppropriately address student behavioral issues and other challenges that may arise in order to maintain a safe environment and a sense of calm in such situationsKnowing and adhering to site specific safety standardsMaintaining a clean and safe work environment and notifying the supervisor of any hazardous issuesPerforming other projects, initiatives, and other duties as needed and assignedQualifications18 years of age or olderHigh School Diploma (Bachelor’s degree Preferred)Must be available all four weeks of campProven experience as Camp Counselor, teacher, or similar role working with children.Familiarity with summer camp activities, challenges.Patient, reliable and flexible if weather impacts outdoor activitiesOrganizational and communication skillsA love for childrenEnergetic and positive personalityAbility to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina to follow sports activities)First Aid- and CPR-certified preferred Complete Child abuse clearances and background checksReliable TransportationCamp Counselors Job Description | PDFEmployment Application
