This position plays a critical role in ensuring materials are accurately received, labeled, staged, and delivered to keep production running efficiently and safely.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesSupport material handling operations across departmentsPerform daily safety inspections of department forklifts and complete required paperworkRead work orders or follow verbal instructions to determine materials or containers to be movedCompare identifying information; count, weigh, or measure materials moving in and out of departmentsLoad and unload materials onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or forkliftSafely operate industrial forklifts or electric hoists to move materials and productsAttach identifying tags or labels to materials and mark containers as requiredPack, unpack, and inspect incoming and outgoing productsReject damaged items, record shortages, and communicate issues to the appropriate department managerUnload incoming sheet steel and verify weight and material type against purchase ordersPrint and apply labels, locate materials, and mark material using color-code chartsLocate components for production useAssist with assembly or helper functions as neededMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentFollow all company safety policies and proceduresOther duties may be assignedQualifications & Education/ExperienceAbility to perform all essential job duties safely and accuratelyStrong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environmentWillingness to support multiple departments and adapt to changing production needsHigh school diploma or GED requiredPrevious forklift operation experience requiredAbility to obtain and maintain a forklift operator's licenseOne to three months of related experience or training preferredLanguage SkillsAbility to read and understand simple instructions, memos, and operating proceduresAbility to write basic correspondenceAbility to communicate effectively one-on-one with other employeesMathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimalsReasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructionsAbility to solve problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situationsAbility to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentPhysical DemandsRegularly required to stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlFrequent use of hands for handling materialsRegularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs; occasionally lift up to 80 lbsVision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustmentWork EnvironmentFrequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particlesOccasionally exposed to high places and outdoor weather conditionsModerate noise level in the work environment
