Welding Technician

Cruz Associates Inc. of Yorktown, VA has an open position and is looking for qualified candidates for a Welding Technician. The job location is at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, McAlester Oklahoma.Scope of Performance: This position is that of a Welding Technician, McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, Oklahoma. This position will be for a full-time on-site technician and shall be subject to Department of Transportation physical examinations and certification requirements. Schedules will be dependent on the requirements of the customer per specified contract guidelines.Key Responsibilities:Operate welding equipment including MIG, TIG, Stick, or Flux-CoreResponsible for assembling and fabricating metal structures and components using various welding techniquesStrong understanding of welding processes and techniques including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAWEnsure the quality and safety of welds utilized in machinery and structureOversee NDT examination operations ensuring proper techniques and procedures are utilizedRead and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to fix complex equipmentPerform visual and dimensional inspections of welds and base materialsEnsure compliance with project specifications, welding procedures, and applicable codes including AWSReview and interpret welding documentationMaintain accurate inspection records and quality documentationWork closely with welding teams, QA/QC personnel, and project managersIdentify and recommend corrective actions when discrepancies are foundEducation and Experience - Required/Preferred:Proficient in welding to include MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-CoreProven experience as a welder and fabricatorStrong attention to detail and manual dexterityAbility to carry and handle items weighing up to 40 poundsAbility to wear, utilize, and maintain respirator qualificationClimbing and work in some high places may be requiredAbility or receive and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.Must be a U.S. Citizen
