With its unique focus on the New York metropolitan area, Habitat Magazine provides a trusted platform for fostering awareness and sharing practical solutions.Role DescriptionHabitat Magazine is seeking a part-time Editorial Operations Coordinator to manage the flow of content across our print, newsletter, and digital platforms.This role is responsible for ensuring that all editorial output stays on track—from initial assignment through publication. The coordinator will maintain the publishing schedule, follow up with contributors and editors, and identify potential delays or bottlenecks before they become problems.This is a coordination role focused on execution and follow-through, not content creation or editorial direction.Remote position. Familiarity with New York City and the co-op/condo landscape is strongly preferred.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain a clear, up-to-date editorial calendar across magazine, newsletters, and digital contentTrack the status of all content in progress and ensure deadlines are metFollow up consistently with writers, editors, and contributors to keep projects movingIdentify and flag delays, gaps, or risks in the publishing scheduleCoordinate timing and reuse of content across formats (print, web, newsletter, podcast)Run a brief weekly check-in to review progress and prioritiesEnsure all pieces are ready for publication from a process standpointThis role includes coordinating contributions from a network of professional contributors (e.g., attorneys), including assignments, follow-ups, and submission tracking.What this role is notNot a writing or reporting roleNot responsible for editorial voice or content decisionsNot a traditional administrative assistant positionQualificationsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple deadlines and moving parts simultaneouslyComfortable following up with contributors and keeping others accountableClear and direct communication styleExperience in publishing, media, or content operations is a plusProficiency with basic tracking tools (spreadsheets or project management tools)Compensation & SchedulePart-time: approximately 10–20 hours per weekHourly: $40–$55/hour, depending on experience
