Assistant Project Manager Assistant Project Manager - Construction (Mid-Rise / High-Rise / Multi-Family / Commercial) Position Overview We are seeking a proactive Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of mid-rise, high-rise, multi-family, and commercial construction projects. The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with Project Managers and field teams to help manage schedules, budgets, subcontractors, quality, and safety while ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope. This role is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with hands-on site experience and strong organizational skills to grow into a senior project leadership position. Key Responsibilities Support Project Managers in planning, executing and closing construction projects across mid-rise, high-rise, multi-family and commercial portfolios. Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, critical path updates, and milestone tracking using scheduling software (MS Project, P6, or similar). Monitor and help manage project budgets, track costs, prepare forecasts, and support monthly invoicing and pay applications. Coordinate subcontractor selection, scopes of work, and onsite logistics; facilitate pre-construction and coordination meetings. Prepare, review and process RFIs, submittals, change orders, and as-built documentation; maintain document control and filing systems (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam). Perform regular site visits to verify progress, quality of work, safety compliance and to support field teams in resolving technical or scheduling issues. Assist with procurement of materials and equipment, track lead times and delivery to ensure alignment with the schedule. Collaborate with project engineers, superintendents and design teams to interpret drawings, resolve constructability issues and implement design changes. Support quality control and safety programs by enforcing procedures, tracking punch lists, inspections and corrective actions. Compile and distribute weekly/monthly progress reports, meeting minutes, and other project communications to stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum 2-5 years of experience in construction project roles with direct exposure to mid-rise, high-rise, multi-family or commercial projects; prior Assistant Project Manager experience preferred. Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and project documentation. Familiarity with construction management platforms (Procore, PlanGrid) and scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera P6) as well as document markup tools (Bluebeam, AutoCAD basics a plus). Strong understanding of construction means and methods, estimating, cost control and change order management. Knowledge of local building codes, permitting processes and OSHA safety requirements. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; capable of coordinating multiple trades and stakeholders under tight deadlines. Detail-oriented, proactive problem solver with a hands-on approach and ability to work both in the field and office. Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; ability to travel to active job sites daily as required.
