Job Description
Position SummaryThe HVAC Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems within a chemical manufacturing environment. This role ensures that all HVAC systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards to support critical production processes, environmental controls, and workplace safety.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise daily HVAC maintenance activities, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.Maintain and troubleshoot complex HVAC systems, including air handling units, chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, cleanrooms, and process ventilation systems.Ensure proper environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, air quality, pressure differentials) for production areas and controlled environments.Collaborate with engineering, operations, EHS, and facility teams to support manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives.Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations.Oversee HVAC-related capital projects, upgrades, and system improvements.Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and maintenance records (CMMS systems).Manage spare parts inventory, vendor relationships, and contractor work.Respond to emergency situations and equipment failures to minimize downtime and production impact.Conduct system inspections and audits to identify risks and improvement opportunities.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.5–8+ years of HVAC experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or lead role.Experience in a chemical manufacturing, industrial, or regulated environment strongly preferred.Knowledge of industrial HVAC systems, building automation systems, and process ventilation.Strong understanding of safety standards and hazardous environmentsSkills & CompetenciesStrong leadership and team management skillsAdvanced troubleshooting and problem-solving abilitiesKnowledge of preventive maintenance strategiesFamiliarity with CMMS systems and work order managementAbility to read technical drawings and schematicsExcellent communication and organizational skillsStrong commitment to safety and regulatory complianceWorking ConditionsIndustrial manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, noise, and temperature variationsRequired use of personal protective equipment (PPE)May require on-call availability and overtimeAbility to work in confined spaces and at heightsPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbsProlonged standing, walking, bending, and climbingManual dexterity to operate tools and equipment
