Senior Java Developer, Risk

Overview In this Senior Java Developer role within Risk, you help build mission-critical applications supporting ICE’s Clearing and Risk systems. You will influence platform modernization with cloud-native patterns and advanced algorithms, impacting global financial infrastructure across derivatives and asset classes. You work with cross-functional teams to deliver resilient, high-performance software that enables customers to perform better. ResponsibilitiesDevelop robust, high-performance Java/Spring/REST/SQL modulesDesign and implement scalable solutions with attention to non-functional requirementsOwn estimation, design, development, testing, delivery, and mentoring for critical componentsOptimize system scalability and performance for large datasets and complex computationsCollaborate with product, QA, and business units to translate requirements into impactful featuresAnalyze and document functional and non-functional specificationsUnderstand and migrate complex business logic to new technologiesSupport production operations, DR planning, and recovery proceduresIdentify root causes of defects and drive corrective actionsWork in an agile SDLC environment with CI/CD toolingPlan and conduct unit, feature, regression, and integration testingCoordinate with business analysts and QA on testing strategies Key requirementsBachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent5+ years of Java development experienceJava 8+ and Object-Oriented DesignExperience with distributed messaging (IBM MQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka, JMS)Spring Framework (Boot/Cloud/MVC/Data)Hibernate/JPA and relational databases (Oracle) with SQL/PLSQLMultithreaded server-side developmentRESTful API design and developmentUnit testing with JUnit/Mockito/Spring Boot TestJava performance tuning, debugging and memory profilingFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions)Experience supporting multiple projects and prioritiesStrong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skillsExcellent technical documentation skillsCollaborative team playerStrong communication across audiencesDetail-oriented problem-solverJava 8+Spring Framework (Boot, Cloud, MVC, Data)REST API design
