Senior Construction Manager
Senior Construction ManagerVanir (PNW-Pacific North West) seeks a Senior Construction Manager to lead construction management activities for K?12 new construction and renovation projects. The role supports all project phases, ensuring compliance with contract documents, schedule, budget, and quality requirements. Reports to the Project Director and may supervise administrative staff, project engineers, and assistant CM/PM personnel. Position may be required to travel to other projects throughout the state of Washington. This position will support construction in the Education Sector.
Key Responsibilities
Lead design and construction management for K?12 projects, ensuring adherence to contracts, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Serve as primary liaison for owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and partner entities.
Develop and manage project procedures, documentation, contracts, and A/E coordination systems.
Manage project data, communications, approvals, and stakeholder engagement, including public forums and meetings.
Direct and monitor construction management staff and related project team members.
Oversee project controls, cost management, scheduling, and performance tracking.
Lead project meetings and ensure accurate documentation and issue resolution.
Manage project logistics, staffing, and resource planning.
Ensure effective project closeout and delivery to owner.
Support Vanir quality standards; perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience (one of the following):
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or related field, plus7+ yearsmanaging construction/engineering/architectural projects (minimum3 yearsowner?rep/CM support).
OR Non-Technical and Non?degree candidates with9+ yearsconstruction management experience on large projects and5+ yearsin owner?rep/CM support, with commitment to pursue degree advancement.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
Strong understanding of construction contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications.
Applied experience leading or participating in various procurement processes
Experience managing design phases (user groups, constructability reviews, spec development).
Ability to mentor junior staff and work collaboratively in team environments.
Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
Ability to manage deadlines, solve issues proactively, and track items to resolution.
Experience with local permitting authorities.
Effective negotiation skills (especially change orders).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products and project related systems such as Bluebeam, Prolog, Primavera.
Applied experience in the areas of project accounting, cost, administrative, and personnel interaction in professional settings.
Preferred Credentials & Experience:
Experience managing design and construction of K?12 school projects.
Architect, Engineer, or General Contractor license.
CCM certification or willingness to obtain.
Experience with design?build delivery; DBIA certification or commitment to obtain.
Experience with project controls tools (Prolog, Primavera) and advanced application of estimating, cost control, scheduling, and construction principles.
