SummaryThe Digital Stitcher Operator I is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining saddle stitch equipment used to produce binded printing materials. Duties and ResponsibilitiesSets up equipment at the beginning of each job according to the specifications provided on the job ticketResponsible for the inspection of equipment as well as potential safety concernsMaintain equipment, troubleshoot problems, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment as neededMonitor quality, output, and overall productivityMake adjustments during operation as required to return output to the proper specificationsDetects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions such as imperfect bindings, ink spots, torn, loose and uneven pages to the department managerCommunicates status of jobs to department managerTrain and monitor PHI recyclingMaintain workflow from start to end of machineSet the counter stacker with assistancePrepare the three-knife trimmer with assistanceSet-up the Cover Feeder with assistanceOperate a productivity level of 70% minimum or betterPerform other duties as assigned Qualifications & RequirementsHigh School graduate, or completion of GED required preferred.Two years experience in a printing or Bindery environment preferred. (operating either Horizon, IBIS or Mueller Stitchers is a plus)This position requires an individual who is technically and mechanically orientedMust be able to read and interpret documents such as operation and maintenance instructionsMust adhere to all Safety and OSHA standardsPerform all work and activities with honesty and integrityTake personal responsibility for productivity, quality, and timeliness of workEffectively communicate (and listen) clearly, professionally, politely, and persuasively in all situations; respond well and in a reasonable, timely mannerChallenge conventional practices and use creativity and information to lead, innovate, problem solve, and implement ideas to contribute to the growth of the organizationSupport and meet company/department goals and core valuesCollaborate with co-workers to achieve common goals Working ConditionsMust be able to perform the essential job duties. Work may be performed in an office, warehouse and/or manufacturing environment. In addition, requires the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to noise and be required to wear hearing protection for the duration of the shift.
